Lan Bless Pension House

Very basic, needs a lot of work

Reviewed By pncb_14

Accommodations are basic — you get a small room with a double bed (we were assigned to room 10), AC, a private bathroom, an office table, and a tiny mirror. I’d like to stress though that apart from the bed, which gave us a rather comfortable sleep, everything else needed a lot of work in terms of design, especially how it affects the functionality of the room: We didn’t like the placement of the shower, which was directly in front of a large window, so this meant whoever was in the lot outside could see you showering. What we did was we removed the curtain from the inner window and placed it on the bathroom window (with difficulty, as there was no curtain rod on the bathroom window). There were also at least two signs in the bathroom saying we shouldn’t flush toilet paper into the toilet bowl, but the lone trash can in the room was placed in the bedroom so we had to transfer that beside the toilet too. Water pressure on the tap was strong, but really weak on the shower. Also, we would have appreciated basic provision for hanging wet clothes on (there was absolutely nothing!!). We had to hang our wet stuff on weird places, including the headboard and on doorknobs. Seeing as most tourists do island hopping in Coron and come home with wet clothes, placing hanging racks should have been a no-brainer. They can also replace the office table (which is frankly such a weird choice of furniture) with maybe an open (wall-mount) closet design where we can hang clothes, and maybe a smaller (wall-mount) surface for placing stuff on so the rest of the room’s bottom space can be used for bags (we only brought carry-on bags, but we barely had space with that humongous table hogging what remained of the floor area). They also serve breakfast rather strictly from 7:30 am to 9 am (if you’re going on a tour that departs early, forget about requesting to have breakfast earlier because the guy manning the reception in the evenings to early mornings, Bobby, seems to have a real issue with it). He vehemently explains that their cook doesn’t come in until 7:30 so. you. cannot. have. your. breakfast. earlier. Also, serving time is very slow. Of the four days we were there, we were only able to have breakfast there twice. There is wifi in the room, although it is (expectedly for Coron) slow. I will not stay here again, although their saving grace would be they had the nicest boatmen who took really good care of us during our two-day island hopping trip. They do have their private boat and we opted for a private tour, and everything in that respect went smoothly.

Orange Mangrove Pension House

Japan Feels

Reviewed By Aillen L

Pension can easily be located since it is just along the road; a 5-minute drive to Cathedral and 7-10 minutes from Pasalubong Center to Orange P and it’s only 100php for 1 tricycle. They had a hard time finding my reservation since Traveloka is a subsidiary of Expedia. We had the Standard room with BF and we were informed that their standard is a bunk bed, but they offered the queen bed with shared bathroom (just beside our room). It was clean and sweet-scented room. What I love about was their big mirror at the lobby. Wi-Fi is slow as expected. Plated breakfast as shown in the picture. They have soap and tissue but no shampoo, so better bring one. Staff were friendly. This pension is highly recommended for those who want to stay on a budget yet classy place and near to airport, pasalubong center, cathedral and bajao.

Good budget stay

Reviewed By ranne94q

Nice basic, small room, great for those on a budget who aren’t going to spend a great deal of time inside. The WiFi and air con worked great, and also the only hot shower I have had after 2 weeks in the Philippines! Staff were friendly and the room was clean. No breakfast included, but a hot water jug with tea & coffee was left outside our room every morning. It is very well hidden! There is a sign on the road outside, and the you walk down an alleyway, but it is down there! Might be quite easy to miss in the dark.

Golden Pension House

The right pension in Puerto Princesa

Reviewed By istuti

Definitely a good place to stay in PP. I was there for 5 nights and I will certainly be back before heading away off Palawan. The pension is very well located close to busy Rizal street but stucked 5 minutes away in a quiet lane. The hosts are super friendly, helpful, and may eventually pick you up upon arrival if you let them know ahead of schedule. Golden Pension is relatively quiet. The clean room is vast with AC, fast WiFi, comfortable mattress, fridge, cable TV, and a good sized bathroom. Room rent comes with drinking water and included breakfast is served on each room individual terrace. A very good pick if you can afford to pay a little more to get away from PP numorous noisy, dirty crashpads.

Good Location & Decent Accommodations

Reviewed By wizardofwallstr

Audissie is an adequate place to stay if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodations in a good location. It is not luxury nor a dumpy budget hotel. It is in a busy location, with the ferry port and industry right down Malvar Street, tricycles always passing for easy transport (but beware, the tricycles in this city try to overcharge foreigners always). A short walk to Baywalk and the sights and food there make this an ideal lodging spot as well as a short walk to Jollibee, stores and money changers, and convenient location to the bus depot, airport, and tourist attractions. Scooters can be rented here inexpensively also. PPC is the main city of Palawan Island as well as economic and government center. It is smaller than most other provincial capitols, and Audissie is a good base location. All the amenities here are adequate. Linens and soap only provided and it is reasonably clean, quiet, and relaxing to stay here. Next time I am in PPC I will stay here again.
