The 10 Best Nightlife in Derry, Northern Ireland

January 11, 2022 Nicolette Lion

Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

A group of my friends and myself wher in this little bar today 19th of January after a night out we thought we would go for the cure, just one for the road home, but little did we know we would still be there 3hours into the day, we first landed in and there was a barman behind the bar and was nothing but polite, we felt sorry for the young fella as he said he was up watching the McGregor fight and that’s how it all started, we started to slag each other the 7 of us and was giving it straight back, Cormac (the bar man) lifted everyone’s spirits he even managed to sell to souvenir t-shirts and there Derry pins to us, he is an Huge asset to this bar. This is why I would highly recommend going to visit this bar, from the words of Cormac himself “somethings cannot be taught” and he was true he’s a true old style bar man to who you can sit and just have a few pints and laughs with. So thank you to Cormac for everything you did for us and lifting 7 Hungover people. Top Class

My wife and I visited after a couple of hours visiting the numerous sights of the city. We were indeed hungry and were not disappointed with the food or the portions. My Guinness and beef pie was the best I have tasted, Excellent pints also and really attentive service.

Stopped in here several times during our recent stay in Londonderry as it was near our hotel. Staff was very friendly and the food and beverages were great. Not a typical Irish pub, more like something in the U.S. but still a good place to stop.
