Lo de Perla Jungle Garden

This amazing jungle/ natural reserve its a most visit if you are close to San Francisco, Nayarit. Its only 1 hour away from Puerto Vallarta. The ecotour takes your breath away with 3 hours travel enjoying the northen most Jungle of the world. You will walk in a comfortable path watching the flora and most of the fauna of the garden: 120 different fruit threes, bromelias, orchids, ferns, cactus, 25 mammals, 120 birds, 300 butterflies and thousands of insects, watching the see as background. The information is very interesting because tells the history of the indigenous people, the Sierra de Vallejo and the State of Nayarit. The tour guides are locals and love their land. At the end, and after a few brakes to rest you will get to the Orchids Sanctuary, a collection of more than 700 plants that will fill your eyes and nose with beautiful images and fragrances. The tour ends with a feeling that you have to come back soon to witness how the garden changes each season.

This easy, beautiful garden tour and jungle walk is an amazing glimpse into a balanced, yet fragile eco system. The caretaking and preservation of these garden trails is a true labour of love. We learned the history of the garden’s humble beginnings and much about the co-existence that occurs in a natural habitat. Highly recommended.

Playa Las Cuevas

Reviewed By Westcoaster2013 - Vancouver Island, Canada

It is so wonderful to walk along a path lined by palm trees and other foliage that offer a bit of shade on a hot day. Playa Las Cuevas connects with Playa Malpaso and in a lower tide it is easy to go around the sand by the rock bluff to get to Malpaso and then hike the length of that beautiful beach.

We stay in Bucerias but we love Destiladeras Beach better than anywhere. Up the coast a few minutes from La Cruz, it is easily assessible by bus if you do not have your own transportation. The best sand and wonderful for long walks. Food/drinks is available as well as chairs and umbrellas to rent.

San Blas River

This long and winding river full of exotic birds and wildlife is the perfect backdrop for a water trip.

Reviewed By Persim - Asheville, United States

We took the late day boat ride with Chencho going thru the mangroves, going out in the daylight and returning in dark. It was a spectacular ride, and Chencho was a great source for finding the very camouflaged roosting birds, a boat-billed heron rookery, and night-flying birds and crocs. Young children might find it a bit long and you definitely want to have bug spray. It was a magical, different from the typical beach and shopping experiences of coastal Mexico.

Playa Chacala

Beach and village about 60 miles north of Puerto Vallarta.

Reviewed By 1_4_adventure - Calgary, Canada

Extremely clean and not very busy even on weekends (compared to any other beach in the state). Surf seems quite general but that depends on the wind and stage of the moon. Definitely worth a visit for an extended vacation.
