The 10 Best Nature & Parks in Menorca, Balearic Islands

November 16, 2021 Giuseppe Pratt

As the first place in Spain to see the sunrise, Minorca is like the country’s ambassador to the morning. Beaches here are beautiful and, surprisingly, relatively empty. The jewel-colored water is a magnet for waterskiers, windsurfers and sailors. Playa De Binigaus beach is perfect for families, while Cala Mitjana is an idyllic spot for romance. Head to the town of Alaoir to nibble on some fresh local cheese or turn back time in the charming fishing village of Fornells.

We travelled as a family to this place to see the views and were not disappointed. The views all around are worth seeing and there is plenty of parking at the top. One of Menorca's highlights.

Cala Macarelleta

Reviewed By W7045EDlaurenm

This is an absolutely beautiful beach which is surrounded by pine forests and has crystal clear blue sea. The beach is also very clean and well-kept and it had a very calm and relaxed feel. It is advisable to drive to the beach and be warned that the carpark has a limited amount of space and once it's full, they don't let any more cars in, so to guarantee getting in it's best to aim to arrive by 9.15am (I know it's an early wake up but it's worth it). it is a 25 minute walk through pine forests from the carpark to Cala Macarella which is also beautiful but larger and less secluded. To get to Cala Macaraletta, it is a 5-10 minute walk up and down the adjacent cliff (there is a clear and relatively safe path) which has some amazing views of both beaches from the top. There is also a friendly and funny man who makes freshly-made mojitos (classic or with raspberries and blueberries) at the corner of the beach which are 7 euros each and were some of the most delicious mojitos I've ever had. They are well worth trying! All in all,if you want a day at a beautiful beach, this should definitely be on your itinerary.

Cala Mitjana

This is a beautiful rural Cala/beach just a 15 - 20 min walk from Cala galdana though shaded pine trees offering welcoming protection from the sun, the walk is fairly easy but I would recommend trainers rather than flip flops as it is as little rockier in places. There are two calas mitjaneta & mitjana both are beautiful & are close to each other you can even swim from one to the other, the views are amazing & the sea is a lovely turquoise blue. These beaches are popular with locals and do get busy in peak season so I would recommend getting there before 11.30am I would also recommend taking plenty of refreshments as there are no bars or shops although the barrow man does come a few times a day offering fruit ???? water & beer (cans)

Playa de Son Bou

Reviewed By 123onthebeach - Retford, United Kingdom

Clean beach with crystal clear water, amazing for both swimming and also snorkelling, good to get there early if you have a car, cause the carpark the full very quickly. 3 restaurants on the beach but some of the things are pricey so good idea is to go to a mahon supermarket such as mercadona, or lidl and stock up on water etc if you have a car. find both with northerly and southerly winds.. but if southerly the there might be a bit wavy which makes it amazing for body boarding and also jumping in the waves..otherwise other days the sea is calm as a pan cake. Bring some dry bread and feed the fishes if you go out a bit to the reef. there are also toilets block by the restaurants, and you can rent pedalo boats and also banana boats.
