Lake Annecy

With one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, this is worth a relaxing stop for 2-3 days to amble along the lakeshore, take a boat excursion on the glacial-fed turquoise lake, hike or cycle, try some delicious raclette and make sure to wander beside the canals of the old town at night with glowing lanterns. Wonderful.

La Tournette

We parked the car at the beginning of the trail. It is possible to drive to the restaurant le Chalet de l’Aulp where the trail begins. You have to be in good condition if you take the steep route. When you reach the shepherds shelter, the route will split left and to the right. We went left. It was a steep climb at 2/3 of this route but manageable if you are in shape and are a experienced hiker. Bring water, food and wear hiking boots or shoes with a good grip cause you’ll need it. It took 2,5/3 hours to get to the top en less than 2 to get down. We celebrated with a gigantic lunch at the restaurant Le Chalet de l’Aulp. 2x 3-course lunch with 2 cokes and 2 beers. Paid around €50. Highly recommend it!

I had an absolute ball with Miha yesterday - made my holiday (& birthday!)! He had so much patience, improved my confidence massively & his teaching methods were brilliant - definitely the best ski lesson I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!

ESI Grand Massif

This is the first year we have taken our 4 & 5 year old skiiing as a family in Flaine. Virginie whom we emailed to book everything with was fantastic from prompt emails, clear booking forms and general reassurance emails to me before we came. A lovely friendly lady in person too! Then upon arrival I had a private instructor 'Michele' for a few hours as a 'refresher' as I haven't skied in 10 years who was extremely calm and patient with me. Gave me back my confidence. Also we didnt stop so really got my monies worth. My two children had 'Seb' who was happy, calm, patient (unlike some instructors we seen) and the kids loved him! He understood my children's needs and that my son was of a better ability than my daughter so tried to take him down larger slopes and because of him it brought a tear to my eye watching my children ski for the first time, and now want to come back again! It may of been because we went out of term time (yep tut tut) but they only had 4 in their ski club so almost private tuition which was ace. A break mid way through with a snack and a drink and toilet stops. Cant fault it.

Aiguille du Midi

From Chamonix (1035m), fly over the forest to reach le Plan de l’Aiguille in 10 minutes (2317m). On your right, the Glacier des Bossons, in front of you the Mont-Blanc (4810m), on your left the Aiguille Verte, the Drus and the Aiguilles de Chamonix. Then take a second cable car which, in just 10 minutes takes you up to 3777m, over the seracs, the glacier des Pelerins and the hanging glaciers on the north face of the Aiguille du Midi. . From the top, a sightseeing panorama unique in the world. Experience a very high altitude.
