The 10 Best Nature & Parks in Clearwater, Florida (FL)

February 22, 2022 Deane Carmody

Home to some of the best beaches in America, Clearwater is a great family beach destination. Sure, it’s in Florida, but it’s not Giant Rodent Florida (a.k.a. Orlando) or Crazy Spring Break Florida (a.k.a. Fort Lauderdale). Rather, it’s Calm, Old-Fashioned Florida… which is something worth seeing. Oh, and the weather’s outstanding.

Clearwater Beach

With hundreds of things to do on Clearwater Beach, the main attraction is still pretty much its near-perfect beach (USA Today readers voted Clearwater Beach "Best Beach Town in Florida" in 2013). Beautiful white sand and clear, shallow water make this beach an ideal playground for families.

Spent a winter day in February walking, jogging, tanning, orgeous white sand, spacious, spent quiet time near the rocks by Opal Sand Resort's beautiful outdoor bar, the perfect spot to watch the sun set. No matter where you are in Clearwater it seems everything you need is right there.

We wanted to do a boat tour and decided to go to the marina to see what was available. There were at least 5 options we were interested in and it was nice to speak to the tour operators in person and then make our decision.

This was the second must do of our Florida trip. CMA does not disappoint. We booked the feeding and photo with Rufus , an otter feeding was tossed in too; as well as the superb Behind the Scenes tour; and the Sea Boat Safari. We got to visit with Winter and Hope and Nicholas and all the other animals. A fun filled day that spanned from ten in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon. Our son was never bored at all. So much to take in and enjoy. Staff are so friendly and well informed. Really time and money well spent.

Moccasin Lake Nature Park

Moccasin Lake will be closed for renovations and will reopen in August 2018. We will reopen with an updated Interpretive Center, new parking lot and new restrooms!

This park has various birds of prey exhibits of birds who cannot live in the wild. The staff is friendly and helpful. My grand daughters enjoy this park. There is an interpretative center, birds in cages, butterfly garden, walking trails, and large picnic area, all free. Great nature experience for young and old alike.
