The 10 Best Museums in Ṣummeil, Tel Aviv District

July 20, 2021 Fernanda Pittenger

A youthful, modern metropolis with a diverse population, Tel Aviv dates back only to 1909. Clubs, bars, a thriving arts community, gay life and beaches attract artists, musicians and young professionals to Tel Aviv's more secular scene. Its UNESCO-designated Bauhaus architecture has won the city the moniker "The White City." Walk, drive or catch cabs between the cultural exhibition pavilions of Haaretz Museum, historic Independence Hall Museum, bustling Carmel Market and Old Jaffa's boardwalk.

While strolling on Ben Yehuda I was drawn to Ravid by the varied & attractive selection of gift ideas in their window. I was looking for mezuzot in particular and the had an extensive collection of both traditional and modern - so many that it was hard to choose! In addition they carry a wonderful selection of jewelry and beautiful Judaica items, that made me wish I had more room in my luggage to bring more home. Best of all are the warm and knowledgeable couple Dorit and Arnon who own Ravid and are most helpful and accommodating. I will definitely return again on my next visit to Tel Aviv. Highly recommended!

Jojo Gallery

Colorful, cheerful and original! These are the key words that best describe the world of Jojo (Josef Ohayon, 53) the artist. In this world every furniture item has a different color, and all designing accessories have distinct uncompromising powerful characteristics. In Jojo's artistic concept a combination of colorfulness and variation creates joy and interest. Why should all furniture have the same boring brown-dark colors? Dazzling colors spices-up the furniture so that we can "taste" and enjoy them in more than one way. In the artist view, boldness and individual expression is the "name of the game". In every item, Jojo maintains, there must be something surprising, funny or daring!Jojo lives and creates in EIN-TAMAR Moshave near the Dead Sea, thus his artistic endeavors are centered far away from the hustling and bustling of the big city. This enables him to be free from any fashion rules or contemporary trends. Jojo's success in creating 3 dimensional steel works is surprisingly refreshing in their originality. As an autodidact artist, Jojo has managed creating an advance new design and production techniques for his artistic objects. The artist versatile ability to work with static colors drawn from the experience he acquired working with his father as a child in Morocco. In Jojo's gallery, located at the heart of Tel Aviv, you'll find an amazing array of original metal artworks with clean contours granting them noble presence, all wrapped with wild and colorful endless textures. The collection includes a wide variety of furniture made in original exclusive techniques invented by the artist (Strong water current that "blows up" the metal sheets!). The tall "majestic" metal vases, which become the artist "trademark" designs. You'll also find stylistic lighting fixtures, exclusive service trays, sculptures and large size paintings made by the artist personal unique technique.

It was my aunt's birthday and as they traveled to Tel Aviv for a few days, so I thought it would be a great idea to gift tickets for the Bauhaus Tour. Usually it is not possible to get tickets crossnationally, but they were very kind and obliging. I recieved the tickets than in advance via Mail. My aunt and her husband were impressed of the tour. "It was amazing and a great experience." - Absolutely recommended!
