The Rivoli segued from a 40s-style picture palace to a modern in-demand multiplex. The Rivoli, while usually said to be in Camberwell, is actually in Hawthorn East. The Art Deco-style buidling reopened in 2000 as a multiplex with eight screens, including a Gold Class Cinema. The Rivoli is walking distance to bustling Bourke Raad, one of Melbourne's most prosperous shopping strips.

The new Platinum Cinemas are excellent and have very comfortable recliner seats. The popcorn at Como is also far better than the major chains. You can enjoy a nice craft beer or wine or two in the cinema as well if you choose.

Attended our first drive in with Luna cinema at NEC, Birmingham! Attended with 2 small children and was worried they wouldn’t be able to see but no need to worry as it was well organised and spaced out and everyone could see the screen well! Ordered drinks and these took a while but we’d also bought our Own popcorn and drinks! Took hot water bottles and blankets and had the best time! Will definitely do it again

Came on a Tuesday night as all tickets are $10! Couldn’t have a better name for this place. The styling of this place is very classic, but it’s well maintained, clean and the cinemas inside are small but well designed. Seats are comfortable and plenty of leg room. Took up a great offer of tap beer and medium popcorn for $12. Only issue about this place is parking; can be tricky to find so be patient.

Living round the corner in Alphington, we have been going to palace Westgarth every six weeks or so for about 10 years. We have seen current release ‘block busters’, film festivals (the Scandinavian festival is very welcome), quirky films and re releases of older films. The online booking system works, the staff are knowledgeable and attentive, the seats are comfortable, the projectors are good and the sound is just fine. In other words a very good cinema. Even though we have recently moved 40km away, palace Westgarth is still our cinema of choice. Some standout movies over the years have been - Nebraska, seeing a black and white film at a deco cinema just works - Rams, an excellent Icelandic drama in a small Melbourne cinema was a good combination

Lido Cinemas is a brand new eight screen artiplex showing both commercial and new release art house films in the heart of Hawthorn's bustling Glenferrie Road. Our exciting new cinema hosts special events and ensures audiences enjoy an intimate and specialised cinematic experience with films that cater for everyone. Possessing a vibrant atmosphere and boutique, individually designed cinemas, Lido's diverse program of films and events will appeal to the many different tastes of film aficionados in the local area of Hawthorn and of wider Melbourne. The Lido's unique space has lost none of its grandeur since opening in 1912 when it first opened as a cinema. Innovative Architect Aidan Halloran has combined the building's original structural features with contemporary design and technology. Preserving the building's historic charm has been at the forefront of the design process and we hope you enjoy seeking out the cinema's gorgeous original features. The Lido sees some of the world's most cutting edge technology, including a 4K projector and Dolby Atmos, contrasted beautifully in our historic venue. If you look above you'll also find Lido's impressive rooftop cinema. Our rooftop forms as the first venue in mainland Australia to have a rooftop screen attached to the cinema.
Preview of a movie New Years Eve, lovely glass of champagne on arrival. Preview had been more popular than I assume expected so email went day prior informing that had been moved to biggest cinema. Seats had been reallocated, with care taken to ensure hopefully in the same previously preferred section. Staff were warm and welcoming, ensuring that patrons knew their new seating allocations. With late arrival, which there were quite a few, not the cinemas fault. Staff were requesting patrons to please just take any seat as they were disruptive to others. Great experience ????

The Palace Cinemas specialises in new release and art house films, for which it is well known among Melbourne's cinephiles. The seats are comfortable. The cinemas are in Church St, Brighton. The complex also has a bar where cinema-goes can discuss the show over a glass of wine.

I just love having a local cinema. If I want to see a movie it is close enough to walk if I feel energetic. With it's renovations there are more choices for movies. I have been going to Balwyn cinemas since I was 17 and feel if we all support our local business they can survive and prosper. It's also a great place to have a snack before or after your film with good selection of cakes, sandwiches and ice-cream. And if you join the Palace club you can enjoy discount prices and some free tickets.

The last time I was at a drive in was 35+ years ago and E.T. was the movie playing. There was a speaker inside the car off the window and the sound was grainy but awesome. To now... 3 screens at the Coburg Drive In, cars everywhere, the movie / music played through your car via your radio, fresh food on offer and social distancing applied. Great couple’s experience that took my mind back many years. Would be a great experience for families and an excellent and affordable price to have that! We will definitely be back.
