Hotel La Bastide de Vaison

Exceeded Expectations

Reviewed By maxbL708UJ

Whilst visiting friends in the area we chose the Bastide de Vaison as our base for 3 nights as it was the ideal location for exploring the Vaucluse region and wine villages. It was fantastic value, very comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. It's nice to find a hotel with a clean modern decor as many of the B&Bs and Hotels in the area are looking so dated now. On the day we were leaving the owners were having super fast fibre internet installed which will make a great selling point too. We'll definitely be staying again on our next trip. Fantastic breakfast too. Highly recommended.

Charming Hotel

Hotel is beautiful. Room was spacious and charming, well equipped with a refrigerator and hair dryer. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample and they also serve lunch and dinner. The food was very good. Lovely swimming pool. I did not see an elevator. Our private bathroom was up a small flight of stairs within our room.

Lovely, Peaceful Stay within Minutes of Vaison-la-Romaine

Reviewed By 395jenniferz

We stayed at this quaint hotel from 2 - 6 November 2018, which was located in the middle of fields of vineyards and within a quick driving distance of Vaison-la-Romaine. Emmanuelle (the owner and/or manager) was delightful and so kind. Our room, "Cote Jardin," was on the second floor (first floor in France) and featured its own private terrace; at night, the stars were amazing, and the room was absolutely quiet. The breakfast was included in the price of the room, and it was the best we experienced on this trip (Paris, Vaison, and Beaune); fresh breads, croissants, fruits, juices, coffee, tea, local honey, meats, and the MOST AMAZING cheeses were served. Additionally, each morning, Emmanuelle offered to cook us eggs for breakfast (eggs are not normally served in France until lunch); this was a very pleasant surprise. Another added touch was that the establishment had a refrigerator in the foyer where you could bye a bottle of wine using an honor system (writing down your name and the items taken on a nearby pad of paper). Emmanuelle and this hotel truly made us feel as if we were a part of their home! The peaceful, lovely countryside view was outstanding! Great stay!

Excelkent

A very warm welcome in a beautiful hotel I hesitated giving it four stars as the breakfast was pricey at 11€ - maybe with current covid restrictions the price should be reduced if they can’t offer the usual buffet? When I mentioned the fact my daughter had just had a croissant they immediately took it off my bill. Our duplex room was spacious, clean and with very comfortable beds. It is in a lovely quiet part of the old town.... more bars and restaurants a 5-10 minute stroll Highly recommend and hope to return one day. I booked directly through the hotel - price slightly cheaper than booking.com and I like to know that my money goes to the hôtel in these troubled times and not a big platform

Wonderful homemade breakfast

Reviewed By Mike S

If you're looking for a uniquely French experience, Au Coquin de Sort is the place for you! My wife and I stayed here for one night on our way back to Paris. Anne (who speaks English) and Cristian were very nice. Breakfast was served at a big country table. There were several homemade jams and breads, yogurt, fresh squeezed juice, coffee, and soft boiled eggs for those who wanted. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests (all French). Although our understanding of French was limited, Anne made sure we felt included. The B&B is a short drive to town (5 min or so); so it's easy to explore. Our room was cosy and unique. Something to be aware of: the bathroom was separated from the sleeping area by a wall, but there was no door to close when using the toilet. This small detail wouldn't dissuade us from staying longer next time.

Spendy, but a special treat

We went for my 50th birthday and very much enjoyed our stay. The location, convenience, comfort were all top notch. Breakfast in the backyard garden was amazing! Some might not like the Mistral winds around this area, but we loved them. The nearby Tuesday market across the short bridge was fabulous.

We only stayed one night to catch up with Vaison which I had first visited 53 years before ! Villa Regina was a great choice. Perfect host & welcome and a delightful and charming room full of the scent of lavender. Well appointed bathroom with a great shower. Breakfast was taken inside as it was quite a chilly morning - orange juice, lovely bread, pain au chocolate, croissant, preserves, yogurt. A five minute walk onto the centre of Vaison plus secure parking. Highly recommended b&b

Unplanned stay

Reviewed By mynameisalwaystaken

We stayed here for one night recently which was totally unplanned. The place we were meant to be staying in had an issue in our room and relocated us here. This meant we went from a centrally located stay in an idyllic setting in Vaison, to a nice place but a little further out of town. Sabrina, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming to us and we navigated the language barrier. The room was set at the back of the property in a purpose built block of 5 maybe 6 rooms. Rooms were well decorated and cosy. We had access to a kitchen / lounge area opposite our room that was for communal use - clearly this accommodation is more set up for self catering, longer stays. I did think about using it when we came back after dinner but it seemed to have been commandeered by a group of teens and their music. They did not seem to be guests but not sure whether part of family. Breakfast was a jolly, communal affair where we were given drinks, croissants, bread and yogurts and spent some time with the other guests though are limited command of French let us down a bit. We were able to keep our room until 2pm when we headed off which was great. Yes, the place is located about 10 mins from centre of town, but a very straightforward walk. This should certainly be considered as an option for staying in town, even just for such a friendly welcome.

Rustic

This is a quiet place set at the end of a long driveway. Our host Guitier and his wife Claudine were very gracious. He grows a variety of organic vegetables & herbal teas which are wonderful. We would have interesting conversations about the local area and interesting places to visit along with his life in San Francisco at breakfast. It’s about a kilometer walk into town with all kinds of things to see and do. The B & B room we stayed in were in a house separate from the main house. There was a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster oven, stove, dishwasher and a washing machine. This was convenient since we wanted to eat earlier than most restaurants opened (7:30 pm). We picked up several items at the patisserie and ate them at our leisure in the dining area surrounded by windows with a mountain view. Other guest may be sharing the kitchen & living room with you so it is important to clean up after yourself. The living room was functional with a TV that we never used. The pool was clean and inviting but again we didn’t use it – a little chilly in September for me to swim. It’s like home away from home. Breakfast is served in the room next to the guest house. Breakfast included croissants, baguette, juice, yogurt etc. As with most of the European B & B’s breakfast is included but many places you need to bring a small bottle of shampoo etc. The sheets & towels are not changed daily so if this bothers you it may not be the place for you. We stayed in room #3 – it was comfortable although the bathroom (shower and sink area) was small it needed some TLC. We enjoyed talking with Guitier and would definitely stay here again.
