Fantastic place, absolutely worth a visit.
Reviewed By sirlagoFirst things first... The couple behind this place are just the nicest people I have ever met in this kind of place. The surroundings of this Bed and Breakfast are spectacular as well as the houses I lived in. Just beautiful! The rooms were nice and cozy. The small kitchen has everything I needed to prepare a decent dinner. Everything is held in old style, since the house is a couple of hundred years old. The breakfast in the morning, was simply fantastic. The bread was home-baked. Some of the cold cuts was homemade as well. Everything was in top class and very delicious.

Reviewed By NemoTravelerWe stayed two nights on a road trip to the southwestern part of Jutland. Tonder is located about 6 km from the German border and is the oldest market town in Denmark. Tonderhus is a classic hotel, located next to the town hall in the very heart of the town, and outside parking is free (but not unlimited). Our room was not located in the main building, but on the second floor of an added wing (without elevator). It was spacious and clean, but not entirely updated. For a couple of days it was okay, and the price very fair. Our stay included dinner and breakfast, and it was possible to dine outside. In spite of the downtown location it was quiet and nice to sit outside. The food quality was very good, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather. Friendly and very good service too.

Worth visiting but cleaning was an issue
Reviewed By Trip36013756151Amazing place for the family. Starting from amazing people at the reception who were extremely helpful to the brilliant swimming pool (that was exceptionally clean). Good houses with all needed. We have had an issue with cleaning as there were pieces of the broken glass all over the place and looked like the house was not cleaned (later we found the forgotten razor in the shower). So that spoiled the first impression (worth mentioning that our house was not ready by 3 pm as it was stated). So pretty disappointing start but the reception team and the cleaning team tried their best. So finally the house was clean. But I wish all went without this however. Apart from this all was great and we enjoyed our time in Skaebaer center. So definitely would consider this place for the future visit

Reviewed By Mareen MVery nice looking hotel, beautiful presented from outside. Unfortunately the bathroom had a horrible smell and it was not clean, the room wasn't hoovered either. Room itself lovely view and good size. No black tea on a Sunday morning available, half cut rolls for breakfast, probably from another table before. The restaurant was great, delicious dinner, great food. All in all not good value for money

Farm stay with pros and cons
Reviewed By Nicolai WHohenwarte is a family-run farm stay on the danish-german border. Its main feature is a wide range of animals: Horses, donkeys, rabbits, ducks, pigs, sheep and raccoons. The family room we stayed in had place for four in a double bed and a bunk bed. A fridge and a kettle was the room's amenities. The room had its own shower, and though everything was clean it was heavily used. The standard was that of a hostel, though linen was provided. It was a little difficult to find out about the layout of the place and the activities, since the reception staff didn't make any effort to introduce us. So we went exploring on our own. Breakfast and other meals were served mess hall-style in the same room as the reception or on a long table outside the reception. The owner's three dogs roamed around the yard just outside the reception area. One of the dogs even visited us in our room. The playground and the animal cages were worn down and neglected and some of the toys obviously needed repair. The trampolin though was new and the kids loved playing and petting the animals. Overall we felt that the place was more for regulars, who knew the owners and wanted to hang out with them. A better introduction would have made us fell less estranged. Regarding the price you can find better and cheaper accomodation elsewhere in the area.

Reviewed By Jan_BrunsHad booked a small appartment for 3, but on the day my wife and kid where ill. We where going to a friends 50th birthday, so I went alone. The first thing that happend was that they offered me a smaller room, for a cheaper price. Which for me is just excellent service. The breakfast was reasonable. The room itself was somewhat worn, and relatively small. 4 stars due to the room being worn. Everything else was ok, and I would stay here again.

Reviewed By Wander276505I found the 539 Danish Kronor charged for a very mediocre three course meal extremely poor value and certainly not a pleasant gastronomic experience. We also had to remind the serving staff as they seemed to have forgotten to serve our main course. Caveat Emptor!

Excellent out-of-the-way hotel/restaurant but worth of a stay
Reviewed By PairADoxCycleThis hotel is really away from the maddening crowd. It sits alone along the EuroVelo bike path and a two lane “not very busy” highway . However don’t be put off by the location. This truly is a great small hotel/restaurant. Great clean and bright rooms look out toward the North Sea . The place shows pride of ownership and desire to provide an excellent night’s lodging . The place is definitely older but very well maintained with a very friendly staff and a really pleasant and cozy on-site restaurant. Excellent dinner served at reasonable price point . Good breakfast was included in the cost of the lodging . Excellent covered secure bicycle parking . All in all a great break for the night in a quite remote location . Definitely will stop again on our next bike adventure along the North Sea .
