GREAT EXPERIENCE!

Reviewed By mrhowatt

This hotel is a great stay for those looking for a clean and quiet place to sleep at night. The hotel's location is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but within only a short 10 minute drive to everything downtown has to offer. The hotel is an older property, but they have done a FANTASTIC job of renovating it and keeping the finishes new and refreshed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathrooms have been updated. Breakfast had great choices! This location is VERY QUIET at night, which I appreciate as I am a light sleeper. The rooms have been soundproofed between walls and this hotel definitely caters itself to those seeking a quiet place to sleep at night. I have to come to Tallahassee every two weeks for business and I am making this my go-to hotel from now on! Thank you for a great experience!

Beware of hidden charge

Reviewed By bizcouple

Beware of staying at this hotel. Before we arrived, they tried to charge our credit card a bogus $50 fee in addition to the cost of our reservation. Nothing on the website mentioned such a fee in addition to the cost of the room. They tried to charge our credit card for the fee before we arrived. When we questioned the attendant about the fee, she could provide no explanation for the fee-just that 'we have to charge something in the event you break something in the room.' Needless to say, we were very surprised by this practice and believe it is borderline illegal; due to the fact, they never had our authorization before trying to charge our credit card. We will not be back. In addition to the bogus charge, our reservation was for a room with one king bed. When we arrived, there was another rollaway bed in the room that they would not remove. Further, there was only one set of towels in the room for 2 people; although, they had set the room up to accommodate 4 people.

Nice place. Staff is spread thin.

Reviewed By terih855

We stayed here a few weeks ago for our daughter’s college graduation and thought it was nice, so we came back again to move her out of her apartment on a much less-hectic weekend. Our room was available when we arrived around 4:00. However, we didn’t have a remote to turn on the room a/c unit (temps in the 90s) and only had one bath towel. We called and were told items would be delivered. After about 30 minutes, I went in search of the towels since we had dinner plans and had spent the day moving out of an apartment. When I got the towels, I reminded them about the a/c and told them there was a big hole above the shower (like a pipe trap but no door on it so just exposed pipes) — not a huge issues but needs to be addressed. The people could not be any nicer. Free breakfast and it’s quite tasty (limited selection, but it’s free). I just think the folks working there are spread thin and it is showing in the readiness of the rooms. Super clean, but attention to detail is a bit lacking. We would stay again.

Noise in the middle of night

Reviewed By merrie2022

This property was very nice until it was the middle of the night and the noises were horrible. One night from 2:30am to 4:20am there were tons of cars on the street behind our room with boom boxes going, people yelling and hollering and no sign of any law enforcement vehicles at all. Tried to call front desk twice and no one picked up. Stayed two nights and did not have two nights of good sleep.

Decent hotel super close to FSU football stadium

Reviewed By auggie_tech1

Stayed here for just one night, as was dropping off our kids at a summer camp at FSU. Booked based on it's location to campus - which is super close. Room was decent - had a king in the bedroom and other room had pullout couch for the kids; our room was on the top floor, 7th floor. Had to call the front desk twice though to request sheets for that sofa bed - which they should have been in the room or came on the first call. Has a parking garage right next door, which was nice to use. Had breakfast at the hotel restaurant which was decent, but a bit slow and pricey. Would recommend if going to football games or other activities on campus.

Disappointing

Reviewed By bruceao

I expected more, I don’t think this location meets minimum expected conditions for a Hampton Inn. The employees all seemed dedicated to their position, it appears to be a management issue. My room smelled strongly of sweet disinfectant, but was clean. Breakfast was the worst I’ve experienced in a Hampton. Perhaps this was under the misguided guise of Covid prevention. Their plates are paper, the thin as paper type. Utensils come as a packet in plastic, so the weak, cheap kind. Yogurt was only offered in bulk form. The fruit you could add was bulk canned fruit cocktail. I’d expect these decisions at a Motel 6, but not at a Hampton. Will not stay here again, I feel bad for the employees though.

No reason to pay for parking!

Great location, walking distance to downtown. FSU had graduations, it was quiet. We went to see Capital, museum, etc. We knew we would have to pay for parking but when we arrived we saw a parking lot that was pretty empty. No security, nothing special. $15 a day was ridiculous. Never have we paid at a Hampton Inn for parking except in California, with high security. Sent review to Manager & reply was " Thank you for staying with us". If you do not need to stay here try the other Hampton Inns in Tallahassee.

This hotel exceeded our expectations as being the lowest priced of Hilton’s brands. Although we were quoted 5x the rack rate as this weekend was considered a hol. The staff made every effort to justify the charge. Because of the experience exceeded our expectations, we will be looking to stay at Tru by Hilton hotels when the need arises. PS. The full breakfast was very good.
