Not worth the price

Reviewed By kellysn00k

This room was more than three times the price of what I would expect, given its quality and services. There is no room service. The bathroom fixtures are old, although they work fine. The bathroom smelled like sewage. The floors are a stylish polished concrete but could use softening with more rugs. Basically it was a nice room - perfectly fine - but not luxurious as one would expect for the price.

Excellent hotel, lovely staff. Perfect location.

We stumbled across this hotel by accident when we were planning our week-long trip to wine country. We needed to be able to book 3 rooms for three couples. We were so happy with this choice. The staff is stellar... very kind people and very helpful. There is a lovely wine bar in the lobby, and the lobby is large enough with several seating areas that can accommodate a lot of people if you just want to socialize or enjoy some wine. The valet was incredibly helpful in getting us in and out even when there were events happening in the Square in front of the hotel. He also made excellent recommendations on places to go. The rooms are small but very well appointed and very clean. The staff will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. And you are right there in the middle of downtown Santa Rosa with wonderful restaurants and bars all around you, easy walking. Driving to either Napa or the Russian River Valley is a breeze. And the drives are lovely. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We have definitely found our new “home base” in Sonoma county.

Nice Hotel

Reviewed By CDBCDB

We stayed in a Deluxe Suite, which is located across the street from the main hotel. Other than street noise, the hotel is quiet and comfortable. We had a small refrigerator for drinks and Keurig for quick coffee in the morning. Unfortunately, I did not realize that the cleaning staff did not replace the coffee pods used on the first morning, so I waited until 7:00 to walk across the street to buy good coffee. Parking is free, and located across the street, next to the coffee shop. This is a convenient location for walking to restaurants downtown.

Beauty and Zen

Reviewed By NCVienna

This hotel was the first stop on our three-week California/Hawaii trip and we couldn’t have chosen better. It is a truly beautiful and peaceful place with lovely views, an outstanding spa and all-round great service. I had requested a second-floor room with vineyard views in building 8 or 9 and we were promptly assigned room 8201 despite this making us the only guests in either of those two buildings. Our west-facing balcony had beautiful vineyard views and was wonderful in every way – from the cool gas fireplace to the double vanity in the bathroom and the vaulted ceiling. Wherever we went – reception, spa, restaurants – staff were lovely and helpful. A couple actually told us unprompted that they loved working at Vintner’s. The grounds are stunning (I loved the fountains in various places!) and the vineyard walk is really enjoyable. The architectural style is a bit curious – a mixture of mock rustic Italian and mission-style Californian but it’s really pretty nonetheless. The absolute highlight of our visit was our visit to the spa. We absolutely loved the chill-out zone around the caldarium in which we soaked while having our glasses refilled with bubbly more than once… The outdoor heated pool was lovely, the steam-room was great (the women’s was actually out of order but since it was just my husband and me for most of the three hours we were there I was able to use the men’s with him) and the massages themselves were absolute bliss (thank you, Nicole!) We enjoyed breakfast at River Vine every morning and found both the indoor dining room and outdoor terrace very pleasant. The menu is extensive (if not cheap). We also had dinner on our first night in the bar/restaurant (I think it’s called the Front Room) which was equally good. Didn’t make it to John Ash’s as they only offered brunch over the Easter weekend. Would whole-heartedly recommend Vintner’s as a base for both chilling out and exploring Napa and Sonoma Valley.
