Fabulous Sugar Bay

My husband, son and I spent May midterm in a deluxe double room overlooking the pool. It was a lovely room with a gorgeous bathroom. Our beds were really comfortable, the towels and bathrobes were fluffy and changed frequently. The view from our room and location were excellent. The food in Reef, Umi, Sizzles and Colin’s bar was really great. The cocktails were certainly plentiful and nice. The beach is to die for, plenty of loungers and the water sports guys were so friendly and attentive. Special shout out to Dylan who patiently played connect four with my son. The KidsClub ladies were so kind too. My son never goes to KidsClub on holidays but these ladies made him so welcome and he had such fun with them that he couldn’t wait to go. Thanks guys. The Maitre D in Sizzles was another great staff member, so good at his job. All the waitresses in Reef were so warm and friendly too, special shout out to Tyra! Thanks for looking after us so well. In short we had no fault at all with Sugar Bay and can definitely recommend it. We walked up and down the coast a few times, did a boat trip with JayJay (another big thumbs up), swam with turtles, saw the horses swimming and did lots of relaxing. Thanks Sugar Bay for a wonderful holiday.

The service at reception and the concierge was exceptional. Staff at the hotel were generally quite pleasant. The location is exceptional. Quite near to restaurants, Bridgetown, transportation and other beaches. However, there were parts of the hotel room which appeared to require some more attention. In these times of Covid-19 and other contagious diseases which are spread by touching surfaces, areas such as knobs, doors, light switches, drapes and the like should be sanitized to a point where they actually look clean. I noted several areas that appeared to have been neglected and this was quite concerning considering the extent to which it was visible. This hotel is good value for money if you are willing to turn a blind eye to such things.

Upon arrival the staff was very inviting and friendly. Check in went smooth and we were off to the poolside bar & restaurant. Beautiful setting and nice pool area. The food was good but they have what I consider a very limited menu. Our first room was clean but the AC wouldn't shut off so it was like 65f or 18c degrees. They tried repairing it but it stayed cold all night. They moved us the next day. We were promised a corner ocean front room with our Diamond status but they only gave us an ocean front 3rd floor room. The hotel is older and it shows, they need to do some serious updates to this Hilton. The restaurants are just OK, nothing to brag about but easier than going out some nights. The staff (all of them) were always very friendly and helpful. This hotel just needs some TLC. Seaweed is the next issue, there were tons of seaweed that washed in during our stay making it almost impossible to swim to the hotel beach. They tried cleaning it up but everyday it washed ashore again. Meanwhile Carlisle Bay was untouched by the seaweed. The first time here we stayed on the resort at Sandals this time we explored the island with our rental car. Definitely worthwhile but being from the US driving on the left was a stressful challenge but I would do it again. Barbados Wildlife Reserve was a fun day as well.

Hidden Gem - A beautiful surprise

Island Inn exceeded all of my expectations. From the staff to the food and spacious and very clean accommodation my family and I had an amazing time. The staff was very accomodating with my 7 month baby and ensured that we were good for the duration of our stay. The food was amazing and Valery was so sweet and thoughtful. Highly recommend for a quick peaceful getaway or even a lengthy relaxing stay. We would have easily selected five stars however, if you are driving there isn't much space for cars to park. Otherwise amazing experience. Definitely value for money.

Wifi was great. Room included a kitchenette. Shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure.

High price for an Average experience . Afternoon Tea-Mother's Day in Barbados

Reviewed By Linda K

Called first as had driven past this Venue and been told about it by People who had previously visited . Wanted to try it and form our own opinions so booked ,after asking if the Afternoon Tea which they were calling "High Tea" was an English Afternoon Tea and was told yes. So: - Please cheer up the Security person outside and he could be more helpful to people with a Disability. Please do away with the Soup, it was delicious but too filling and detracted from the well presented Sandwiches , Cakes and Pastries, also did not need the Tuna!. Please reduce the Portions , our Party of four took home most of the Goodies in Boxes as did the majority of other Patrons. This would enable a reduction in the price which was high for an Afternoon Tea . We know as Afternoon Tea is one of our go to events. I should have asked first but I was surprised by $120 per person for this Venue. A Service charge was added on top so you could not decide whether to Tip or not. I personally would not have tipped the Barman or the Waitress who brought out our Cakes etc, they looked and acted quite unhappy. They did not have the Wine we wanted and we were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink or even anything else. Just "Have you finished" But, a Lovely Venue with Peacocks ,a Beautifully set Table, Linen and Crockery. We would suggest training for your Staff in how Afternoon Tea is done well and what good Customer Service means so they could earn their tips. Please add some Clotted Cream and quality Jam for the Scones. We talked about returning, to perhaps try Dinner(so we could be minus the flies!) we were not offered the cover for the dishes as others were. Don't think we will return. An excellent opportunity was missed here

What a month st Malfranza

Reviewed By NicholasStjohn

My dad and I were very fortunate to have had a month long stay in this very beautiful and secure accommodation. It met our expectations and was truly home away from home. The ambience is set in an ideal location called Haqqat Hall just outside of Bridgetown, 7 minutes to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and close proximity to most if not all essential services, shops, malls, Starbucks. I enjoyed Malfranza apartment for it has all amenities wifi smart TV, and functional kitchen well catered for dining within. I miss the peaceful environmental where I enjoyed many mornings walking around the neighbourhood, pleasant people who greeted us, very warm and caring customer service from the owner who greeted us at the balcony area at least 95% of the duration of our stay. We had clean linens supply weekly. Thanks for your hospitality abs the warmth of your family who made us feel very homely. Dad doesn’t travel a lot but he still tells me how much he misses Malfranza and the next trip to Barbados, Malfranza Apartment is our number 1 choice.
