Enjoyable two days
Reviewed By travelbob1The rooms, the food and amenities made our stay very enjoyable. Included were the many hot spring pools, walking trails, natural volcanic steam "cave" and mud. The trails include a humming bird setting and many places to sit and enjoy some wildlife watching. Many rooms are "hidden" among the forest landscaping. Our room was roomy and included a porch with seating and a hammock. Bring a flashlight with you when you venture out at night.

Reviewed By CJCJ123My husband and I stayed at Arenal Manoa for 3 nights, our first stop after arriving in Costa Rica. The resort exceeded our expectations and beyond. It was our honeymoon and we really appreciated the thoughtful extra touches the hotel staff included, such as a sign on our door and chocolates and wine in our room on arrival. Our room (306) had the most incredible volcano view. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. The bed was huge, as was the whirlpool bath. Food was exceptional - loads of choice at breakfast, with fresh fruit, omelettes and cooked options. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening, the steak was delicious. The view from the restaurant is fantastic, overlooking the volcano and teeming with wildlife so there is always something to look out at. While at the resort we saw monkeys, a toucan, a cayman in the pond/lake, and a whole variety of different birds which was a real bonus! The grounds are beautifully maintained throughout. We made the most of happy hour at the two pool bars too. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you to the staff at Arenal Manoa for a wonderful stay!

Checking in was a breeze and we were greeted with hot towels and cocktails- then we were guided to our rooms which was the Orchid Room- it was super spacious, LOVELY rainforest view, and NICE shower/bathroom! I was able to see my friends Rainforest Room, which was also great with a tub for two and a porch with bed. The service was fantastic, restaurant food was really good- the pumpkin soup was the best!! Breakfast buffet was great and the hot springs I highly recommend. NO complaints about this stay and really looking forward to being back! Also, pretty close to everything too!

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and you feel like you are living within the rain forest with the best view of the volcano. Everyone goes above and beyond to provide the best service. Orlando consistently greeted us with a smile and always checking in with us to make sure our daily plans were set. Mikol, Antonio and Anthony consistently took care of us at the various restaurants and bars. They all went above and beyond in providing excellent customer service. They made our trip so memorable. We will be back!!

In its interior rivers run through it, it has a beautiful natural lake and has spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano. Within our resident staff you can find slooths, toucans, frogs of different varieties and other magnificent animals.

Everybody was very naturally friendly and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We had Tucans and even sloths in the garden. Simply amazing.

Reviewed By Travelation3This was our first visit to Costa Rica and El Silencio Lodge could not have been a more wonderful introduction to the abundant natural beauty to be found throughout the country. The location is breathtaking and it was a privilege to have the opportunity to explore the stunning lodge property, which is far more extensive than we expected. There are plenty of activity choices available, both complimentary and for a reasonable fee and if you're also looking for a place to switch off, relax and recharge, El Silencio is hard to beat. If you like being in gorgeous natural surroundings, as we do, it's paradise. Yes, it rains there - bring suitable attire for the cooler, wetter climate and make the most of the conditions that create the incredible cloud forest environment (mornings seemed to be drier when we were there). The accommodations are extremely well thought out and very comfortable with superb amenities. So although there's a lot to explore outdoors, we also loved spending time in our villa - especially the rocking chairs on our porch, while watching hummingbirds and listening to the sounds of the river and forest. The hot tub was a 'wow' and most welcome, especially after hiking and when it rained - pure relaxation. We participated in the guided 'Mystic Hike', the sound healing class and the Las Gemelas guided hike, each of which we would highly recommend. The hike to the onsite waterfalls by ourselves was especially rewarding and well worth the effort - what a treat to have such a great trail right on the property. It's important to note this is rustic luxury at it's finest. The hospitality overall was exceptional, especially in the the restaurant and bar where we found everything to be world-class in quality, presentation and service. The food and beverages were all superb. As with all the best hotels and resorts, the little touches there make all the difference; the way they acknowledged our birthdays, the afternoon hot chocolate and cookies, remembering our names and preferences, the evening turndown and the all-around welcoming warmth of the service. It was like being cocooned in blissful comfort and we were reluctant to leave! It's amazing they are able to create such a first class environment in such a remote place and we appreciate the effort and passion that goes into such an achievement. We loved every moment of our experience there and cannot wait to return.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. The service was amazing. Our favorite part was the pool and the free breakfast service in the mornings. We also loved the Night Walks offered at the resort where we toured the frog sanctuary. The Front Desk Staff did an amazing job helping organize excursions and transportation for us as well. BIG thank you to Daniela for all her amazing help!

The wildlife was amazing from the toucan that came each evening outside of our lodge to survey his territory, to the lady hummingbird that had a nest with chicks in a tree just outside the bar, to all the frogs and toads that came out when it rained. We ate lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was good, great that you can have the same menu in the bar as the restaurant so you don’t have to get dressed up after a 5 hour hike! All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, I would return to this hotel without hesitation.

Bugs bugs bugs - no seals around doors or bottom of windows
Reviewed By Courtney TThe rooms are small and dated. Feel like a small cabin. No gasket/seal around doors and they let a ton of bugs in. Like a 1/2 inch gap btwn door and frame. Another almost 2 inch gap under window on the ground. We killed literally dozens of spiders and other critters every day. Even had a frog and roaches in the bathroom. Shower seems cool with the outdoor ish feature but that also lets in insects (along with rain when it rains). Had a spider under the pillow the first night. If you don’t like insects don’t stay here. I would not recommend this resort. Or bring tons of bug traps. Would be scary to know how many more are hidden that I haven’t killed. Rooms feel really small. We have 2 adults and 2 kids and it’s cramped with our luggage. Maybe we are spoiled with larger resort rooms in the past. But not all is bad it has a great view of the volcano and is close to many fun and adventurous activities! Pools are cool. Lots of different temp ranges. Goes from 94F to 104F. Could start hot and go polar plunge (haha) in 94F. Food was good. Italian restaurant and sushi restaurant were good. Breakfast was the same every day. Wish they had bacon or other options. Service has been friendly and attentive. When the lawn crew came by and blew off our front porch and dirt went everywhere in our room through the crack around the door they swiftly came and re swept our room when asked too. Also when they don’t leave an extra toilet paper roll when the rolls were more than halfway used and I call the front desk they quickly brought more.
