Noisy and unwelcoming

Reviewed By RianaH53

Zesty Guesthouse had good reviews when we looked for accommodation in Port Edward. We arrived just before 19:00, which is the book-in time on the website, yet were made to feel as if we are inconveniencing the staff. Some of the guests arrived with friends and partied in the parking area - just outside our windows. There was a dining area and a shared kitchen. Although it states that one can make use of the BBQ facilities, the kitchen was locked and there was not a single utensil in sight. The water pump switched on every time someone in the guesthouse opened a tap or flushed a toilet and was quite audible from my room. Something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper.

Shocking stay

Reviewed By Sharon N

We booked through airbnb, on check in check in, lady was not aware of our stay, host for the apartment called in the morning to advise reception but no handover was given. We were given another unit, as the host unit was A12 but the hotel rented the unit and they gave us A8. No issues moving unit but the unit was the most dirtiest unit I ever seen, it looked like it wasn't cleaned for months. Windows didnt close, full dust on curtains, kettle had musky water with cockroaches in it, shower head broken, table counter full of dirt, towels n linen were dusty, stool had paint scratches, flies all over the room, cupboard broken. Called our host, she was horrified as her unit was not of that standard, she called reception and the receptionist moved us to a 3 bedroom apartment which was lovely but bathroom had spiders, cupboards dirty and also Aircon doesnt work in the rooms, reception says they cannot do anything until the morning. This resort is a lovely place, however maintanence and cleanliness is lacking.

Glemore Sands Beach Resort

A rather tired resort on the KZN South Coast

Reviewed By HouseC1015

This resort offers apartments, some with a sea front view. Our apartment which was booked to accommodate 4 adult men, turned out to have a room with a double bed, a room with two single beds and a sleeper couch in the lounge. This was not exactly what had been requested but we made do. The rooms and furnishings could only be described a basic and dated. The level of cleanliness was borderline and the reception was less than professional. If you are seeking budget accommodation this is for you, otherwise look for somewhere else!

The lounge and kitchen lighting are very dim and poor. Kitchen sink taps are too low and had to wash big utensils. I had to sort out the shower door before using it. Surely the cleaners should check this and report to you.

Palm Beach Chalets

Just home from a most enjoyable weekend at the chalets. There were 14 of us and we were comfortably accommodated in the 3 chalets. Each chalet has the same configuration, one sleeping 4 and 2 sleeping 5 each. They were clean and welcoming with what we needed. The pool was exquisitely clean with easy steps for oldies and a wide step for little ones. Each chalet has their own braai. Peaceful and quiet nature garden with butterflies, lovely trees, firepit with the most amazing views of the beach and estuary, with views of rolling green hills on the other side. Cool sea breezes up there. Mandy was a very helpful and welcoming hostess. A natural are to explore and learn all about. We will definitely return. Thank you Mandy.
