Tranquility with caution

Reviewed By AdventureCSRP

We stayed 6-nights. Our intention was to use this a base to rest after three weeks in Peru and to explore the area. The on-site restaurants (food and service) are great. The food is excellent authentic Peruvian with fusion dishes as well . The room service was great. The main pool is heated and is adequate for the available seating and cabanas. The seating/lounge chairs don’t have umbrellas. The covered cabanas are available for rent ($60/day) but it doesn’t include any dedicated drink/food service - We had to walk-up to the bar in the building to order the majority of our drinks/food. There was a single staff member circling the pool to order drinks/food, however the service is extremely inconsistent. The individual pool staff was not polite and truly not interested in providing service. Consider the pool area to be self-service. The bar staff however made great drinks. Our comments are consistent with other reviews and this seems to be an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed by hotel management. We had a deluxe suite on the second floor with great view overlooking the ocean. The washroom had some mould in the shower tile. Our room had no coffee/tea, coffee maker, mini-bar, or any other drinks/snacks. We did however have a small empty fridge. Our building/room was adjacent to the hotel’s Barlovento Meeting Room. It seems the hotel uses this space for special events. One night there was a corporate function in which there was a live band. There was music, yelling and noise until eleven. The event was not open to hotel guests. Thus, if you are looking for a secluded, quiet, peaceful rest, ensure you ask for a room at the opposite end of the hotel property. Overall, this hotel does not have live evening entertainment. The spa services are not operating as advertised on the hotel website (such as manicures, pedicures, etc). The only service available is various massages. Free access to the steam/jacuzzi spa is limited to 20 minutes per day. The beach is not swimmable because of the seaweed and fish smell. Located at the hotel is a tourist office to aid in excursions. We booked transfers to and from the hotel which were on time and very convenient. We also booked flights over the nazca lines which was very cool (take Gravel!). We regret we did not try the Dessert Adventure (riding thru sand dunes in 4x4 close to hotel). Overall, this hotel is a 4-star, when compared to other The Luxury Collection hotels. However, we believe this is the best luxury hotel in Paracas.

Nice Hotel

We visited this locale for a night as part of a Globus Tour Group. It is a very modern hotel with a nice little beach situated on a quaint little bay. The views of the Sunset in the evening are spectacular. Other than a noisy wedding party going on outside (perfect for that too) it was a great stay.

Outdated- NOT worth the $$$

The room being large is just about the only positive here. Third floor room with no elevator! Bathroom outdated and not clean. Broken tiles, not even a hook for wet towels after showering. No coffee maker in room or microwave. Restaurant food is blah. VERY overpriced. The risotto is no risotto at all, just gooey rice with cheese. Just came from Cusco and for less money we ate like kings. This place has a 1970’s vibe and smell to it. Do NOT recommend staying here. Thank god we’re only here for one night.

Decent hotel with a nice view from the terrace and reasonably not too noisy, but ... the sense of service is totally absent. The receptionist greeted us without worrying about us. Whatever we asked, it was not possible or it took an incredibly long time. Deplorable service!

Very friendly

The hotel is near the centre. Away from noise. The owner picks you up from the bus although it is only a few mn walk. Still with heavy luggage it is appreciated. The owner offers you water and walks you to breakfast. They speak English. All in all they put a lot of effort making sure you have a pleasant stay. The room is very clean. The shower is hot. (Pressure is missing though.) The double bed is on the small size but comfy. It is quite expensive considering that we left a hotel in Huacachina with pool for the same price. All in all we were happy staying there.

Hotel Residencial Los Frayles

We had a great experiance!

Reviewed By AlPinkney

We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Residencial Los Frayles in Paracas. We were travelling with Peru Hop. The hotel is one of Peru Hops recommendations. We checked in on March 12/2020 expecting to check out 7 nights later to continue our tour of Peru. We spent our first 3 days touring Paracas from our home base at the Los Frayles. We enjoyed the great room, generous buffet breakfast, and well maintained pool. BUT, as you all may know, on March 16/2020, the Peruvian Government put the country into lockdown in order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the guests quickly “bugged out” of the Los Frayles and bussed to Lima in the hopes of obtaining a flight home. As we had no chance of getting a flight and with a nod from the Peru Hop bus driver, we chose to remain in Paracas where we were welcomed to continue our stay at the hotel. At this point Luis and the staff at the Los Frayles truly showed what hospitality and compassion are all about. -They kept the 38 room hotel open for only 7 guests and some staff members. -They provided breakfast each day. - They supplied a beautiful lunch of traditional food each day. - Daily housekeeping services were maintained. - All facilities, including the swimming pool, were kept available. - As we stayed a total of 13 days, they sent our laundry out for cleaning. - Luis acted as our translator in these trying and anxious times. - They even upgraded our room!! So to make a long story short, we would never stay anywhere else if and a when we return to Paracas, Peru. We have friends at Hotel Residencial Los Frayles.

Paracas Backpackers' House

Horrible

Reviewed By Rachael12342014

We arrived at 9,30 at night to find they had lost our booking from a week before for 3 nights in a private room. They gave us dorm beds for 5 soles less. The bathrooms were awful with no hot water and blocked drains and no toilet paper in the morning. I asked when we could move to our private room the next day and he said 1pm. So we left and found a much better room and friendly service at Willy's around the corner with a private bathroom and breakfast included for a few soles more and 11am check in. Don't go to Paracas backpackers, they don't care at all about ruining your day.
