Superior Quality Hotel for $40 More than the Cheapest
Reviewed By dannysI3737MMAfter I checked in to the Days Inn By Wyndham at Mount Vernon, IL I was surprised by how low their standards were. The room they gave me as supposedly "smoke free" but reeked of cigarettes and the biggest issue was that their toilet didn't even flush. A staff employee eventually troubleshot the toilet but it still had a weak drain. Since the room was not someplace I could sleep at because of the overpowering smoke stench, I checked into the hotel across the street. And boy, what a huge difference it was. This hotel has modern fixtures as in when you walk into the bathroom everything from the shower stall to the toilet and sink were all recently installed. The bed and their sheets were excellent and the room even has a nice armchair. The room did not smell like cigarettes and everything was functional/ up to date. When looking at hotels, keep in mind that when you're paying a little extra its for a sanity check that the hotel in question at least has basic standards. This hotel went above and beyond so I can't complain for the little $40 extra.

Reviewed By Kate4earthThere are no words that would convey that absolutely disgusting state of this hotel. From the hallways, to the bathrooms, to the beds, this place needs to be condemned. We stayed here because we were traveling with our dog. I wouldn't let me dog sleep in his bed on the floor because I was worried he might get fleas! Seriously, sleep in your car right next to Starbucks and avoid having to burn your clothing when you get to your next stop!

Reviewed By betsyr302The staff were all GREAT! The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was so good! The 2 guys who staff the breakfast area are FANTASTIC! The pool and exercise area was good as well. I would highly recommend staying here.

Smoky room, toilet didn't work.
Reviewed By dannysI3737MMThis was the worst hotel I've visited in my trip. When you walk into the room there is an overpowering stench of cigarettes that you can't get rid of with air freshners. The toilet did not work but I'm grateful that one of the staff members played around with the toilet chain to make sure that it could flush. After the op test was performed, I still couldn't trust that toilet. There is no pool here, the pictures are misleading. This is an old hotel. The outside picture is an airbrushed version of an old hotel. When you use the bathroom, you will notice that when you turn on the lights a loud fan blows and most of the fixtures looked like it belonged to the 1980s. For the price you're paying, this is below standards and wouldn't even make it to Section 8 housing standards.

Nasty water!
Reviewed By Slr1208Staff was very nice on phone when we booked. Our room clean, towels pretty paper thin but water in sink, toilet & tub was yellow-brown. I reported it to front desk. Said they would have it checked out next day. They absolutely didn’t care. They did offer another room . We had traveled 12 hours were exhausted and had already unpacked before we turned on water. They said they had no other complaints which is odd when water is probably on same lines. I wish I could show picture here ( I took one) because it was disgusting! I know things happen but my chief complaint is staff acted liked they just didn’t care. We come through here a lot but WILL NOT stay at this one again.

Reviewed By JC0lThis was the lowest price in Mt. Vernon and the quality was what I expected. There was coffee in the room and the bed was comfortable. the place was clean enough, but kinda dated. There was a good TV selection and WiFi too. No breakfast though.
