The 10 best hotels in Lazio, Italy

August 7, 2022 Alida England

Lying at Italy’s geographic and historic heart, Lazio (or Latium) was the seat of the Roman Empire, and as such is teeming with ancient attractions, especially in the Eternal City of Rome itself. To the east, Tivoli has Emperor Hadrian’s exquisite and massive Villa Adriana. Civitavecchia, today a major cruise and ferry port, has been Rome’s main harbor since the second century. Many pre-Roman sites dot Lazio too, like the Etruscan necropolis at Cerveteri, dating from the 9th century BC.

Just loved this boutique hotel, the decor, comfort and location are amazing!

We had a lovely warm welcome and were able to check into our room around 2 hours earlier than we should have. The room was gorgeous, so much space and the bathroom lovely! We adored the old Roman style made modern, so many special touches, the decor was amazing. The breakfast was lovely great choice. We would 100% stay there again and pass on info about this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Rome. On top of that the location in our opinion was excellent. We walked everywhere over 3 days and didn't once use public transport of a taxi - we like walking too.

Best hotel in Rome!

Reviewed By StephanieP3931

One of the best hotels we have stayed in and when we go back to Rome we would 100% stay here again without hesitation. We used a lot of the hotel amenities such as the spa and the rooftop bar (both amazing!) and the staff couldn't have done any more for us! Also the mini bar was re-stocked, rooms cleaned daily and cars to the Vatican and airport arrived quickly. Breakfast was also at a very high standard. Can't wait to go back!

Hotel Colosseum

Hotel Colosseum, a magnificent terrace overlooking Rome... Welcome to Hotel Colosseum. You are in the characteristic Rione Monti, one of the oldest and most picturesque neighbourhoods of the "Eternal City", in the peaceful and quiet Via Sforza, at n°10. Thanks to our exclusive location, in the centre of Monumental Rome, you will have the opportunity to visit the main tourist attractions on foot. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, you will find the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum and the Domus Aurea. Crossing Via Cavour will take you to Via Urbana. Called "Vicus Patricius" in antiquity, it is remembered above all for the visits, which tradition claims were made by St. Peter to the house of a Christian senator here. A short, scenic walk along the streets of Rome will also take you to the Imperial Fora and the Church of S. Pietro in Vincoli, which houses Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses. Hotel Colosseum is located at one of the highest points of Esquiline Hill and provides a 360° panoramic view of Rome and its surroundings from a splendid, furnished terrace on the eighth floor of the building, where the guests can enjoy the view while savouring a drink from our bar. All the rooms and common areas of the hotel have Wi-Fi coverage. An internet point is also available for use. At the reception, you can get information about all means of travelling through the city (taxi and bus services, car, scooter and bicycle rentals) and about guided tours. The stops of numerous city buses are a few meters from Hotel Colosseum and the "Cavour" (Line B) metro stop is about 3 minutes away on foot. The Termini railway station is 700 meters away. The hotel is situated in the historical centre of Rome, outside the limited traffic zone (ZTL); therefore, it is possible to get to us by car and park in the nearby partner garage. Otherwise, it is possible to book our fixed-price transfer and airport pick-up/drop-off service.

Clean and nice staff but old and needs refurbishment

Reviewed By Thomas W

The value for the price compared to downtown Rome hotels is definitely good. The staff is very informative and helpful. That said all is good and the rooms are clean. The floors, carpets and furniture are very dated and old. The bedding was ok. No back issues but it also was not the a very comfortable mattress and felt cheap. For a 2 night stay it works. Last but not least, this is not the hotel's fault, but if you want to go to downtown Rome, beware of morning traffic inbound and afternoon traffic out. A 10 minute drive turns into 40 minutes. The hotel does offer a shuttle for a low fee which is nice.

Nice getaway.

This was a nice little getaway from Rome for a flight out. Had a nice pool area and snack bar. A little pizza place next door. They were friendly and accommodating to get me an early taxi to the airport. Bonus trio to amazing Ostia Antica ruins. Number 4 bus goes right from the ruins to the hotel. Nor much else around but you could take the bus back to town for more dinner options.

Perfect stay in every way !

Reviewed By Holly T

Everything perfect, clean and tidy and very well kept hotel. Love the go green vibe. Views are beautiful. We had a beautiful terrace balcony, with sofa/ sunbeds/ lots of space which was about the size of the room which was great for getting cosy and watching the sunset. Room hygeine and cleanliness was outstanding i didnt find a single bug/spider/dirt anywhere i went or stayed. Bed was very comfy. Facilities are all sparkling clean and new. Access to the centre of rome is easy via shuttle 5 euros each or stroll down to the village 5 minutes walk and catch a bus. 1.50 euros. Hotel is very pleasant to be in. Chilled atmosphere and provides luxury. Breakfast had great selection for everyone ans the coffee was very nice even out of the self service machines. Couldnt rate this hotel high enough for the service and stay. My only regret is leaving the hotel . Top tip- upgrade the room its worth it!
