OUTSTANDING VALUE AT HALLIWELL COUNTRY INN

Reviewed By F5173JPsuew

Ive just had a weekend at Halliwell Country Inn and its one of those "go there" places. The value for money is outstanding. We had a fabulous fire place in our room with complimentary firewood left at your door. The pool is in pristine condition, but a little chilly for this time of the year! A baby shower was being held in the garden and the the staff where helpful, friendly and quite delightful. Fabulous base for all the meander has to offer. Not that you have to leave for any meals - delish dishes! Many Many thanks All the very best to Joe and Spanner and team

Thyme Out Weltevreden Farm

What a find! Truly magnificent!

Reviewed By Russell A

We had spent sometime with friends at their timeshare in Champagne valley and wanting to extend our stay to include the weekend we discovered Thyme Out. Hard to find but what a find. Nicky sent us the 'pin' to get there but I suggest follow her very precise instructions rather because using the 'pin' as we overshot the turnoff. But it was really worth it. Don't be put off by Booking.com's comment that bedding and towels are charged extra - not so, as Nicky confirmed. We stayed in one of their self catering units [the one on the left hand corner of the beautiful stone farmstead]. Obviously no expense has been spared to make their guests experience every comfort they could desire. From the Egyptian cotton bedding, the white fluffy towels [at no extra charge!] to the Wedgewood Nougat on the pillow. I was fascinated by the towel rails that were made of pipes and the stainless steel cutlery especially blackened, rather unique. Nicky was away for the weekend but her mum Ingrid took wonderful care of us. I must add that at the last moment we booked our friends in as well because they were due to head to their granddaughter's birthday in Gauteng but with the threat of the Level 4 lockdown decided to return to Durban. Nicky made a plan by accommodating them in the main house and they had their meals with us. A word to the wise make sure you come well stocked with everything you may need as there is no corner store to visit for extras! Although Nottingham road is not too far, once you are there and unpacked you really don't want to go anywhere else. What we loved was the chilled ambience of the whole place with the beautiful manicured emerald green lawns [even in winter!] the extensive rose gardens and the great herb garden. Just lounge on the lawns with a good book or watch the herd of cows grazing in the meadow next door, take in your daily dose of Vitamin D and chill. Or as my golfing mate did, takeout your club and a few balls and practice your chipping on the extensive lawns. We prepared most of our evening meals on the Weber braai but there was a two plate gas hob and micro wave for breakfasts. Yes the wifi is a bit spotty at times but we found that an advantage to escape the our frantic world we are used to. We only wished we could have stayed for longer but we will be back. P.S. We had a little scare as we were leaving when my wife thought her wedding and eternity rings had gone missing. One always tends to think the worst. Well Ingrid donned her Sherlock Holmes gear 'because that doesn't happen at Thyme Out' and did everything possible to find them. Gladly they were found under the seat of our suv on our return home. But both her and Nicky's caring and follow up calls were really impressive - thank you ladies!

Lovely location, friendly staff and a good breakfast

We had a 2 night stay while visiting family in Howick. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The property is described as a offering corporate accommodation. When we stayed the accommodation was full and many of the guests were up at 5am and were very noisy which did not result in a good nights sleep. Maybe were we just unlucky.

A lovely surprise

We were driving along the Midlands Meander and needed somewhere to stay. We pulled in , not sure what to expect as the estate is somewhat rambling. We were given a wonderful suite which was so spacious and comfortable with a view. We took a walk along the river , very pleasant. Dinner that evening was simply perfect. The staff were very pleasant and a young woman called Bubbles was a star. Can definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
