Hotel??? Think someone forgot the 's'!

Okay firstly let me start by saying this is not a hotel. It's a uninteresting museum at best. It is not quaint or doesn't add charm to keep things that have been there for centuries. There has been no reinvestment in this place since it was built basically. The original carpets are still present. We were shocked that such a place still exists and actually gets clients! A pleasant girl checked us in, after that it all went down hill, which was fitting for a ski weekend, but we thought that was just for the slopes! We were given a room with two single beds and a sink, like a prison cell. Cheap wooden walls with very thin tongue and grove and half it was unpainted chip board. Mary and Josephs stable in Bethlehem was probably more luxurious. No wonder there were no pictures on the internet of the rooms. Scare tactics don't win customers. The room was at least clean from what I could see but then again I didn't want to stay in it too long to find out or pend time examining it too closely. We could literally every movement of every person in the hotel, not just your neighbour. The floor boards didn't just creek, they squealed. You could feel every footstep of your neighbours as the floor boards bounced and danced with their every move. I could see through a crack in the wardrobe into our neighbours room.. Yes, I saw you! There was no en-suite bathroom, so you had to trudge down the hall to a public area which had a male and female toilet, each with class panelled doors and the same sound proofing system. A relic font style wash basin outside the bathrooms with a lovely hygienic towel for everyone to dry use. Then came the showering experience. Firstly, a very large and loud group of semi naked men all decided to shower at the same time. So we had to wait our turn, which was like waiting to be executed. The alternative of staying unwashed after a days skiing did cross my mind which is how bad it was. However I did brave it, the showers were tiny with the tiny dressing area covered in carpet! Yew! The water stopped as I had shampooed my hair, but luckily came back a few moments later. Sense of humour was really beginning to fail by now. The evening meal was moderate, as was breakfast. I will never stay here again needless to say. The reviews on booking.com are delusional. I'd hate to see what they'd call average if they call that good! It's a hostel at best. Certainly not first world. I couldn't even give this a rating I'm afraid. Some of the staff were very nice and the location was fine with nice views and it had wifi. That's where the good points begin and end. The following night we stayed in a hotel right on the slopes, modern clean, excellent facilities, (en-suite with profuse amounts of water) and exceptional staff for the same price, which wounded us even more about the previous nights antics. Would I recommend to a friend? I don't think I dislike anyone enough for that. I did not receive any payment or promotional incentive for this review.. lol

Outstanding hotel

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. We have stayed here twice and intend to return. It is perfectly located for in-out skiing. The staff, without exception, are exceedingly friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean, comfortable and decorated in a style befitting of an alpine hotel. The food is delicious and varied and there is the option of two restaurants on-site for dinner plus pizzaria in the next village (easily accessible by bus). The hotel is easily accessible by public transport.

We’re going back next year!

We have been here twice for a ski week, in February 2017 and 2018. The location is perfect for skiing, and if you don’t ski there is bus stop 15 m away to take the bus. The hotel is fairly simple, but clean. There is a “family suite” with a double bed in one room and bunk beds in another which suits us perfectly. The staff are seasonal, our first year there were waitstaff who spoke excellent English, this year there were fewer. The owner speaks some English too. We’ve been staying at half pension, the food is plentiful, but you have to pay for tap water! Breakfast is very good. We’re going back next year...

Good location and breakfast

Reviewed By Gerrit v

Since the area has come to date, the Edy Brugman hotel fits the picture very well. The interior has a 70's touch to it, which does have a certain charm, at least to us. The hotel is located next to the lift and the breakfast is nice, in a cosy atmosphere.
