Dutch Lake motel

Our family stayed at Dutch Lake motel for one night and we were very happy. When we called, they only had one room left with two double beds. The room was clean equipped with a heater, coffee pot, hairdryer, fridge, couch and an armchair. The beds are soft and clean. The motel was very quiet! The only downside was I could hear the fridge making noise once in a while as I was a light sleeper. Oh, I would also bring my own pillow if I ever go back again. Nothing wrong with their pillow, I just prefer mine. Lol. Yeah, definitely recommend it and definitely will stay there again in the future. The room we stayed was room 109.

Horror

We are very disappointed, appalled and angry. We booked for 2 days but we left after a few hours. We were driving our car in the morning into the parking lot of the ranch, which looked bad maintained, and the owner came at us, and was asking what we were doing. We said, Hi we are staying at your ranch! He said, you are WAAAY to early for checking in. We knew that and we said sorry which we did not have to and we were not expecting to check in only do some hiking in the Area already. He did not welcome us in any way and hè was only irritated that we were early so we left to go somewhere Else to Hike. When we came back at 6pm to check in a woman gave us the lock (because the Doors cant be locked with a key) without saying anything About how it works, and was very distant and did not welcome us. After we went into the room (where there was a very weird smell) we found the source: it was a dead mouse in the toilet which we saw has been in there for quite a while so we asked the lady if she maybe could clean it up (since flushing it was not gonna do anything Good) and maybe give us another room because of the smell. She only said that the owner will be back in 10 minutes so she could not do anything. We went to eat in Clear water and when we came back the mouse was gone. We then asked the owner if we could maybe have another room but hè had no rooms that were ready. We then asked if we could pet some animals or see them because it was a ranch and since we were not welcomed or treated nicely at all we wanted to see and maybe pet some animals. I asked if I could pet their horses, I am a veterinary student so i know a lot About the animals, but I could not get even near the horses because they were 100.000 dollars and thoroughbreds. I said that I know these kind of horses and I also work with them, but still I could not go near them nor pet them because I could give them diseases(???) These horses were btw staying in an very wet muddy land and an old shed. He said I could pet the horses of the neighbours which according to him were only “2.500” dollars so I could. He laughed at me and said that its not a zoo, and you cant pet animals in a zoo…. He was very disrespectful and unfriendly to us and we were so super excited to come to his ranch because we Stayed at other wonderful ranches before and we were so disappointed how hè treated us. We then decided that we did not feel very Good and we wanted to maybe leave so we wanted to tell him that, hè only said: oké, leave the key in the door. And he closed the door in our face. Not even asking what was wrong or of hè could do anything, or talking to us or even a refund? There was no conversation possible with this man and hè treated us with zero respect. The ambience was very distant and very cold, nothing you would expect from a local ranch. This is not the way you treat people. Very bad maintained and dirty. We went to another hotel that night.

Simple motel in s great location to explore the park

Fairly basic motel by the highway (although our room was nice and quiet), but a perfect location to explore Wells Gray PP (which is stunning). Comfortable room and free parking right outside which was a plus. Contrary to some information, the hotel didn't have a hot-tub (looks like it was removed at some point). On site bar had a good menu and it's reasonably priced, plus the staff were lovely. Overall, nothing special, but a great base to explore the area.

Walls were dirty, especially near the ceiling. New bed was very soft.

An older property that still looked pretty good. The floors were clean, but some of the walls near the back of the room and the ceiling were dirty. We checked in late and I was too tired to get up close to the ceiling to see if it was dirt, stains or tiny bugs. Other than that everything was fine. Very good water pressure for the shower. Quick, easy check in. Office doesn't open until 9am, at least at this time of year.

Nice Farmstay

The Guesthouse ist located really close to the Well's Gray Park. Its nice to have a big shared kitchen, an outdoor sitting area with a lookout at the horses. But ist was annoying sharing the only bathroom with 7 people. We had to wait 2h in the evening and in the morning. Would be nice having at least another toilet. Rooms are clean and cosy.

What an amazing place to stay

Reviewed By Herefordshire

I’m so glad I found Wolfwood when I was looking for somewhere to stay to break up the journey from Vancouver to Jasper. The owners are super welcoming & friendly. We stayed in Birch, it was perfect for our family of 4 adults. The beds are super comfy with snuggly covers. The sitting area is comfy with plenty of space. There were dvd provided but there’s so much to do onsite we didn’t use them. In the sitting area there’s knitted slip on slipper provided in all sizes - so cute. The little kitchen area is equipped with glasses, including wine glasses, bottle opener, salt & pepper, a kettle & coffee maker & a small fridge that has a icebox in it as well. On arrival you get given a little bucket with tea, coffee, whitener & sugar, along with some cookies. The bathroom has a shower & toiletries are provided. There’s a hairdryer as well. Towels are a nice size & soft. The Veranda is a wonderful place to sit & just relax & absorb the quietness & beauty that surrounds you. If you sit for any time you will see hummingbirds come to the feeders hung on the veranda - what an awesome experience that was. We booked a meal for our overnight stay there, we were given a choice before we arrived, 3 of the group had salmon & 1 chicken. It was all beautifully cooked & served with a starter of soup & warm bread rolls. We throughly recommend booking a meal here, once you arrive you won’t want to leave to go back to Clearwater to find food. Breakfast was equally yummy, a choice of juice, toast & jam, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns or pancakes & yogurt - so good. They can also provide a packed lunch - we didn’t book this but really wished we had. At 7.30 in the evening they held a homemade cider tasting around the fire pit, all guests are invited & it’s a great way to meet other travellers. We come from a renowned cider producing area in the UK so we were eager to see what the home made cider would be like, we all agreed the strawberry one was lovely. There are various trails to walk, a lake to canoe on & goats & alpaca, including 3 week old babies when we were there, to see. You are right in Wells Gray Provincial park so it’s so easy to visit sone of the waterfalls. We saw a black bear on the car ride to Helmacken falls. We were so sad to leave & wished we’d booked for at least another night.

Relaxing experience

Reviewed By aenm123

We stayed recently with our infant and we cannot speak highly enough of our experience. We stayed in one of the tents and it was everything I hoped it would be. The tents are set up a short distance from the cabins and interconnected by paths covered in cedar chips, beside towering trees wrapped in fairy lights. The whole ambiance was magical. The tent was equipped with a kettle, coffee maker and small fridge. As well coffee and tea and basics like mugs and glasses. There is a small en suite bathroom. As we were travelling with our child we were provided with a pack and play and small comforter. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. Falling asleep to the sound of literal rain on the canvas tents was so relaxing. We truly felt transported to some kind of enchanted forest. There is a covered outdoor shared kitchen area with a bbq, larger fridge and microwave as well all the kitchen utensil basics. We chose to bbq supper the first night and get take out the next. On the grounds of the property are several spots to sit and and relax. There is a fire pit as well. We highly recommend Cedar Haven and would not hesitate to stay there again.
