Really nice hotel in wonderful Bad Elster
Reviewed By SomeishereThe hotel is situated in the wonderful small village Bad Elster. Everything is nice here; room, food, swimming pool etc. It’s a relaxing place where you can have nice walks in the parks, in the village and then rest in the pool, restaurant or where you want. During our visit one part of the hotel was closed due to some renovation, so it will be interesting to come back in the future to see what we missed! Any disadvantages? No, but it was a very strange thing in the room. It is not possible to close the door to the shower room if you want to take a shower because it’s no door to close! Instead it’s a drapery. But this is not possible to close more than about 50 percent. It’s not big enough to cover the entrance to the shower room. Perfect for the little boy or sister who wants to explore his/her sibling when nude. How they thought when planning for the room, is impossible to understand. We will go back, probably next summer and we hope they will, to that time, install a bigger curtain.

Lovely Hotel and great Environment
Reviewed By CathrineErlaubtI stayed one week in this hotel and I really liked it. The location is super central in Bad Elster and next to the spa. The nature is this small town is fantastic and I loved to hike there every day. I had a great stay and I look forward to come one day.

Wonderful Visit
Reviewed By Jul KMy fiance and I stayed here at the Goldener Anker, and we had the best time. Everything was clean and comfortable. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom appeared to be recently remodeled. There was a large spotless shower, along with updated fixtures throughout. Room service was very helpful, as was the entire hotel staff. The food was amazing. We ate all three meals here each day during our stay. The breakfast buffet has a wonderful selection of foods and drinks to choose from. I was also very pleased with the juices and fresh fruit. The sweet hotel owner came to our table, asked how we liked our eggs cooked, and then prepared us each a fresh plate of cooked eggs every morning. Absolutely charming! The restaurant downstairs has the best food that I have ever eaten. I strongly recommend the schnitzel, as I ate it on at least three separate occasions. I also recommend that you sit outside to eat, if the weather permits. The hotel/restaurant sits right on the pond, and you have the most beautiful view from the deck. Overall, this was the best vacation of our lives. While we typically do not like to visit the same place twice, we will have to make an exception in order to come back to the Goldener Anker.

Fantastic wedding location
Reviewed By Katja255060We celebrated our intimate wedding with friends and family at the hotel and most guests stayed over three days. We had the most wonderful experience, and so had our guests. The hotel and its staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and flexible and made our stay unforgettable. Most of our friends traveled with small children and they had a marvelous time in the garden and the close-by swimming pool. We highly recommend the hotel and look forward to returning.
