Paneriai (Ponar)

This is worth the trip - but make sure the museum is open because the people who work there are passionate about sharing what really happened in this spot. It is a beautiful and peaceful park, take your time to walk around and really think about what happened here and the memorials that have been put in place to remember the 100,000 people who lost their lives here.

Bell Tower of Vilnius Cathedral

The history of one of the oldest and highest towers in Vilnius Old Town goes back to 13th century. In the 16th century the defensive tower was converted into the Cathedral's bell tower and acquired its present appearance in the 19th century. The bell tower contains functioning bells and the earliest surviving clock mechanism in Lithuania. Come, count the steps (that are steep, narrow and impressive) and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Vilnius! And if you're up for something magnificent, pop by at 5 p.m. to hear the big bells toll around you!

Visited this attraction in October 2019 with my girlfriend. You can purchase your ticket as a 1,2 or 3 attractions ticket.A single attraction ticket is 5 Euros per person. We bought a 2 attraction ticket in conjunction with the Vilnius Cathedral Crypt tour. The Bell Tower itself is well worth visiting. The basement area houses lockers and the toilets. The floors above have a section with 5 bells that can be sounded. You also have interactive audio that you can listen to by putting on headphones and get a perspective in daily life of the Tower sentry,Tower architect and others. The wooden stairs take you right to the top where you can enjoy views of the Square and its surrounding area. There is protective netting on the windows,so unfortunately, you do not get an unrestricted view. You can also examine closely the main bells and their mechanisms. Worth taking time out to add this to your itinerary.

Artillery Bastion (Basteja)

Reviewed By PlanetAirlines

The Bastion of Vilnius and City wall, is part of the Vilnius Defensive Wall, it's a Renaissance-style fortification characterised by its original construction. It consists of a tower installed in the city defence wall, underground gun ports and a connecting corridor, which turns into a 48-metre long tunnel. The Bastion was built in the first half of the 17th century. It's not very big but the tunnels and museum offers good photography opportunities.
