Ptarmigan Cirque Trail

Reviewed By silverbrook - London, Canada

The Ptarmigan Cirque Trail is the second, more challenging trail that originates in the same area the Highwood Meadows area. It is about a 6K hike with some elevation that takes you across Highway 40 into the Alpine Meadows area, giving you some spectacular views of Mt.Arethusa and Mt.Rae. For this trail you will need some good footwear, since most of it is on trails, as well as water and sunscreen. You should also be on the lookout for wildlife, large and small during your trek. There is ample parking at the start of the trail as well as some information signs at the start where the two trails start. Older kids and adults should really enjoy this hike, but younger ones may find it a bit too long since it is a couple hour loop. You can make more a day of it by doing both trails.

Sugar Pine Company

I wandered into Sugar Pine expecting to find some lovely fabrics. But I was amazed at the size of the store, and the extensive selection of fabrics, all beautifully arranged, with lots of precuts, too. Many gorgeous quilts are also displayed, with patterns or kits available for most. Any other Covid-quilting-newbies like me? You need to know about this place! It’s worth a trip to Canmore.

Wild Life Distillery

Wild Life Distillery is a craft distillery situated in Canmore, Alberta. Our spirits are produced, distilled and bottled on site from Albertan prairie grains. The distillery offers delicious craft cocktails, tastings, and bottle sales. Open daily, no appointments needed. Come and visit!

We didnt actually get a chance to visit the Distillery itself but had the chance to buy some of their liquid courage at a local liquor store, in Downtown Canmore. Its our hands down new favorite Gin. My Wife is more of the Gin drinker, but I love a good Gin martini every now and then. This stuff is putting big names to shame. I wont name other Gins because I believe Wildlife is killing the game. However, I will say they have some strong competition with Park Distillery in Banff... ;) We crushed a bottle of their Wildlife Gin while visiting last week and got a bottle of their Barrel Aged Gin to take home back to Arizona. We haven't opened that yet but are super excited to taste.
