January 2, 2022 Emerita Lamoureux

The other senses are catered for with a vibrant visual arts scene. Rent a car or book a taxi or limousine to get between sights safely. The Napa Valley Wine Train offers an unusual way to experience the views and vintages. A relaxing array of spas and mud baths and the Old Faithful geyser are attractions in Calistoga.

A visit as allocation members back to Outpost for a tour and tasting was a highlight of our week-long trip. Sara treated us so well and we sampled all the fine wines they produce (Thomas River Brown - Winemaker): A superb hillside Zin, a beautiful 100% Grenache bottling and their awesome Cabernet Sauvignon. Also tried Cresta Velia wines from Asst Outpost Winemaker John Giannini. His own label and a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Eagle Summit vineyards next door, and his remarkable Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast.

Designed our own epicurean delight while we were in Napa. Wanted to start with a "breakfast tasting" and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. We started with a cabernet infused coffee, went through four wines and four small, but wonderful bites. Each bite was well paired with the wine and our host was gracious to provide a couple of extra pours of differnent wines as we went along. After that a tour of olive oils and salts to round out our breakfast journey. The experience was excellent and even joined their innovative food and wine club. Recommended.
