The 10 Best Free Things to do in Zanzibar Archipelago, Zanzibar Archipelago

March 23, 2022 Ying Subia

A group of islands and islets some 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, the Zanzibar Archipelago is headlined by Unguja (often referred to simply as Zanzibar) and Pemba. Once a separate nation, Zanzibar has a long history of trade with the Arab world, dating back to at least the 11th century. The capital, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many interesting historic attractions. Zanzibar's bright white beaches and nearby coral reefs make it very popular with the sun and sea set.

During a walk in the old town, we came across this stall. In view of the products offered and the words "handmade". We asked if it was possible to make a custom-made dress. We were so satisfied that we had it redone a second 24 hours before our start. Charmed by the quality of the fabrics, the services provided, the precision and the speed of making the dresses requested. All this for an unbeatable price !!! This shop has more than souvenirs- they carry gifts that will become treasured keepsakes. I am so glad that I did some research before my trip and found this gem. I was able to bring some specific coins from home that have special significance to me. I bought two coins from the shop that were already made and then I left two coins for them to make with special inscriptions. They took my information and said they would be mailed out to me within a few days. Due to customs and such it took a few weeks to reach me at home but I was so very pleased with their work. One was sent off as a gift to a friend who truly loved it and the other was for me. I wear it all the time and it is a great reminder of my wonderful time in Africa. Asante Sana.

in general, I really liked the rest in Zanzibar. many impressions. were a large family with three children. highly recommend to visit. The ocean played with different colors, although there were ebb and flow. during low tide, the mini zoo turned out straight and we walked with the children and watched sea animals.

It is a nice place for many kinds of activities. Mainly I came for kitesurfing. It is a good kite spot with some disadvantages: some obstractions like a boats in front of the beach, some seaweed farms and sea urchins which you can spot during low water time.

Hurumzi Henna Art Gallery

The women of Hurumzi Henna Art Gallery transform traditional henna body arts into paintings and prints . Using a centuries old tradition of adorning women's hands and feet for celebrations such as weddings and festivals, the artists translate the patterns of the body art onto canvas creating a new and soon to be iconic art style through their elaborate paintings.
