There are 8 spots available. Internet booking. Only number 5 will fit an alpine with some careful manoeuvring!! (31 ft). Would not advise caravans or big motorhome unless you were a logging truck driver in a previous life!! Platypus in the mornings and evenings. Very quiet at nights. Short walk to the river. Bring your own fire wood as it is all softwood here and not supposed to cut in a national park. fire places provided. Drive in is single lane but stable surface. Toilets walking distance. Lots of rainforest birds. Would be great for family visit but if booked out you have neighbors only 20m away. There is plenty of opportunity to take a quiet walk into the rainforest along the river and you won't be bumping into people along the way. Short walk to the fancy resort for dinner once it opens again.

We went up to Eungella National Park to try and get sight of a Platypus at the Broken River ???? They are so cute the way they dive for food then resurface again and repeat. We saw heaps of them, you are guaranteed to see a platypus in this location! We did the lovely Palm Grove Track which is approximately a 11 return hike and after we had a yummy burger at the cafe nearby. Fantastic spot for the kids to cool off. Has a waterslide and different pools to swim in with shallow pool for smaller kids. Nice grassy areas to sit by the pool. Facilities are clean too.

We took a lovely little afternoon drive up to Cape Hillsborough National Park. Magical little spot with amazing lookouts covering every angle of the coast and out to Wedge Island which was a stunning walk but make sure you look out for the tides when you walk over! Time did not permit for me to enjoy the full circuit of roughly twenty kilometres of shared pathway which circles around Mackay. The circuit was designed for cyclists and pedestrians to discover the main attractions like the Bluewater Lagoon, Bluewater Quay, Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve, Iluka Park, Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and the Catherine Freeman walk, keep an eye out for six interesting outdoor public art installations along the way. I enjoyed the stretch from the Bluewater Lagoon around to Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve and discovered four art sculptures, my personal favourite being the 'Mangrove Cap'.

Great food and plenty of variety to shop and be entertained. Plenty of parking and under cover. Two levels with just about all the shops you would wish for. Big water park next door for the kids.

Before heading out to the gorge I enquired at the Marian Information Centre about the condition of the road to the gorge, I was informed that the road was not sealed and fine for a standard car, that there would be several low sections over small creeks which may have water over them, which they did but were easy and with no danger to cross. Hiking to Finch Hatton Gorge is suitable for all age groups, and my elderly Mother proved this true. The hike into the Araleun Casades from the carpark is roughly 1.4kms long and took us thirty minutes at my Mother's pace but could be done in much less time. The path, under the canopy of the trees, is well constructed and maintained with a mixture of stairs and pathways and information boards along the way. Once we arrived at the cascades we decended down a short set of twenty or so stairs to a rocky bolder to sit and relax and take in the beautiful landscape. Other hikers ahead of us were having a picnic lunch on the rocks, as we lunched we watched some brave people swim in the chilly water in the swimming hole below the Araleun Cascades. Toilet amenities can be found in the carpark, don't leave valuables in the car, and remember to bring water and supplies with you as no drinking water or supplies are available.
