A beautiful property and some great wines including a very nice sparkling shiraz and an amazing "Blacksmith's Shiraz Cabernet". The staff are very friendly and helpful but beware they are very persuasive (or maybe we are) since we left with a lot more wine than planned! Fun visit and recommended

Some friends came up from Sydney for a special occasion and we chose to go to Leogate for Lunch - what a great choice!! Our table was by a large window, looking out over lawns and the vineyard, with ducks wandering about and kangaroos in sight as well on the neat lawns. From the time we were seated the excellent service began, with water offered initially then the menus and drinks all seamless and unobtrusive. When our food arrived it all lived up to our expectations and was picturesque, tasty and filling, then the desserts--- O Boy! they were worth the visit in themselves, each of us received a work of art as well as a fantastic, flavourfull and generous platefull. Not cheap but certainly worth the money for a great lunch experience in wonderful surroundings.

My wife and I always stop in to this cellar door when in the Hunter, the experience is always friendly with good humour usually provided by Maureen and Cathy. The staff here really know their wines and can also help you with finding good places to eat in the area. This time we booked a tasting for 3 couples, following COVID registration we were seated outside. We tasted a range of wines The range of wines included bubbles, whites and some very satisfying reds. The tasting was quite relaxed and we weren’t being rushed in any way.

My favourite place to vist in the Hunter Valley. The wine is delicious and from now on I will need a constant supply of that amazing chocolate liqueur in my fridge. The staff are so friendly and down to earth - the recommendations they sent through after I made a cellar door booking was a really nice touch as well. Every other cellar door visit in the Hunter Valley was disappointing compared to this one.

Located in the historical village of Morpeth in the Lower Hunter Valley, Morpeth Gallery has an excellent selection of fine traditional Australian landscape & wildlife art by internationally and nationally acclaimed artists. The gallery specialises in investment art with pieces which appreciate over time. The gallery opened in 1991 as a part of the Campbell's Store Craft Centre complex.

Morpeth has a number of very interesting places to visit and wander through both on the Main Street and in the little laneways. This gallery is one of those side excursions that will reward your time with a number of experiences. There is something for just about everyone including artworks, toys and local foods. I was impressed with the ginger beer tastings and left with a number of bottles.

Originally owned by Murray Robson, the vineyards were first planted in 1974, and known as the 'Squire Vineyard'. This Iconic Hunter Vineyard was purchased in 1988 by Dr John Davis which makes up one third of his vineyard resources located throughout Australia which also includes Orange in Central NSW and Wrattonbully on the Limestone Coast. We are one of the leading producers of iconic Hunter Valley wines and have been awarded numerous accolades on both the National and International Wine Show Circuit. Our Cellar Door is located two and half hours north of Sydney and is open 7 days a week. Offering the full spectrum of wine tasting and sales, we are recognised for our long history in the region and our well established wine club (find out more here). We have recently appointmented Gwyn Olsen as our new Chief Winemaker, a rising star of the wine industry. Gwyn studied Oenology at Roseworthy University in Adelaide, graduating in 2005, completing her first vintage in France, with a further six in New Zealand, and three in the Hunter Valley. Gwyn also joins the talents of Living Legend 'Karl Stockhausen', a winemaker with over 50 years of experience in producing iconic Hunter Valley wines. We take huge in acknowledging Karl's success by showcasing a range under our brand which typify traditional Hunter Styles; the Karl Stockhausen Signature range includes styles such as Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. In 2007, Karl was officially made a 'Living Legend' one of the six inaugural recipients of the Hunter Living Legends Awards. Briar Ridge is primarily a Cellar Door and online operation, although our wines are distributed to key independent retail outlets as well as on premise venues across NSW.

Pepper Tree Wines

For nearly thirty years Pepper Tree has been a beacon for quality wine in the heart of Hunter wine country. Founded in 1991 it continues to flourish as one of the stalwart wine companies of the region. The Pepper Tree Cellar Door provides a picturesque and quintessential Hunter Valley wine experience Pepper Tree started with a focus on grapes from the Hunter Valley but today the roots run deep for owner John Davis with vineyard sites in four premium wine growing regions across Australia. Almost three decades on, Pepper Tree is making consistently great wines, drawing on these vineyards situated in the Hunter and Orange in NSW to prized patches of soil in Coonawarra and Wrattonbully in South Australia. You could say it’s the best of four worlds. Our Commitment to the four regions in which John Davis has invested so much of his time and expertise in are the driving force behind all we do. The Hunter Valley represents us but the roots of the tree spread through all four regions.

We visited Pepper Tree cellar door for wine tasting and must say the service and friendliness provided by Stephanie and team was outstanding. Mark in particular did a great job taking us through tastings of at least x10 wines. His relaxed approach and knowledge of each wine made the whole experience so good. I must also say that before travelling to the Hunter I rang several wineries to make bookings for tastings. None of the phone calls were answered And no one returned my calls Except for Stephanie! Customer service and quality are not just in the wine, they are part of the experience. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I won’t wait 40 years to visit the Hunter again!
