Mazatlan Farmers Market

This mercado was just one block from our place. Mixed national & English-speaking vendors. Neat stands with delicious food (a Mexican lady had sausages from a German recipe - hot dog style -great), amazing handcrafts. I bought a beautiful Mazatlán T-shirt designed by the vendor & a necklace made out of dried orange peels for a really reasonable price. Everything is organic, they promote to bring your own bags to save plastic; eating utensils were made of wood. Big plus for that!! They are open Saturdays 8am-noon at Plaza Zaragoza.

Sayulita Farmers Market/Mercado del Pueblo

Mercado del Pueblo is the only Farmer's Market in Nayarit and the first in the Bahia de Banderas. We feature local, organic and natural consumable goods from the region. Recently, local artisans were also added. Every Friday, during the growing season from November-April,come enjoy the products of the area from vegetables and fruits to medicinal products and prepared artisan foods and handmade jewelry. Live music every Friday and street performers make it fun for all! All proceeds from the market go directly to support local projects like water and river clean up, providing biodegradable and natural cleaning supplies to the town and supporting our local children's parks and schools.

This place is a blast. A swap meet on steroids. Huge market that is covered and takes up one square block. From food, cooked and uncooked, herbs, vegetables, clothing, hats, shoes, souvenirs, bakery, pharmacies and much much more. The prices here are just about the best you will find in town. The tee shirts and ball caps are such a bargain. I purchased 8 ball caps for 300 pesos or about $15 dollars. I stock up every year. One hat in the states could cost $15. We typically will walk the market for some time. Then check out the church on our way to Plaza Machado. Just a great day, highly recommend. Love Mazatlan, Enjoy

Mercado Central

Food market in downtown Acapulco.

Reviewed By MinnCindy - Saint Paul, United States

We enjoyed our visit to Acapulco’s Mercado Municipal, which we arranged thru Roberto, from Roberto Alarcon tours, where Roberto arranged for us to eat a variety of authentic local foods from selected vendors with hygienic food preparation standards, based on our food preferences. Our first “foodie” stop was Antojitos Mexicanos Silva, where we enjoyed the Quesadilla combo, a wonderful chicken quesadilla with Oaxaca cheese, poblano Chile, pumpkin flowers & chicken, onions, and epasote leaf. Then, because we had previously done both a taco tour and a food stall @ night tour with Roberto, he knew that we wanted to try something adventuresome so we headed further into the food court, where we ate @ Menudo “Esperanto”. Menudo is beef stomach soup, which we garnished with fresh chopped onions, and cilantro plus some dried oregano and it was eaten with rolled fresh hot tortillas and wonderful ice-cold limeade. Between the two restaurants, we passed Restaurant Barbacoa de Chivo Hermanos Ascencio, featuring barbequed goat tacos and stopped to sample delicious barbequed goat tacos. We also had time to purchase local fruits, veggies, cheeses and view fresh off-the-boat Marlin and Dorado fish, plus large fresh shrimp at a fraction of Wal-Mart prices for later meals during our stay. Additionally, we passed stalls selling local items such as Molcajate pots and taco and sope presses. You can find anything here from clothes to flowers. This was a great experience.
