The night market we found last Saturday night was not a market as such - more a fun, friendly night out for locals and tourists alike! Apparently it happens every Friday & Saturday and there is live music from a variety of performers including a great band of girl drummers. The live streaming on the huge screen above the stage adds excitement as you see yourselves when the camera zooms in! We were the only westerners but we felt most welcome. We were even approached to complete a visitor’s questionnaire which we did with the help of Papago/Google translate! Cold beer and soju is available and many stalls take credit card. When we bought our shrimp and noodle dish from one of the 15-20 food stalls we stood at one of the makeshift table tops and ended up being invited to share our neighbours’ food and drink! They left and we were then invited to join another couple about our age (mid 50s) who had enough English to have a fascinating chat. As they left we took the ubiquitous selfie and they fished in their bag and presented us with a beautiful pair of wooden chopsticks in a silk pocket each.
