The 10 Best Farmers Markets in Barcelona, Catalonia

January 19, 2022 Brandee Mangan

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

Love this Mercat, not as large as La Boqueria on la rambles but has everything you need. Colorful vegetables, great cheeses and olives and you can find a wonderful selection of jamon. Also, great neighborhood and the restaurants outside use food from the mercat.

Mercat de la Concepcio Barcelona

Just a real market in the city. If you're staying close by, go, now. Plenty of vegetable, fish, meat, deli stalls. Great place to buy anything you need, a couple of small bars with coffee, fresh beer and snacks. There is a supermarket in the basement so basically you can do all your food shopping including whatever you want to take home with you. Stocked up on Jamon and the likes in one of stalls, they happily recommended and packed in vacum bags to take home without worrying that it will go off or spread the smell in your bag.

Mercado del Ninot

Reviewed By TravelingDrek - San Jose, United States

The upstairs is filled with local artisan stalls, the downstairs is a full grocery store - this was everyone gets what they want. We did a cooking experience for dinner, and we met our chef here, and he showed us around. Beautiful place with amazing food (and photography - you be the judge.) Nice way to spend an hour. Jamon samples were great!
