Enjoyable weekend...
Reviewed By Sameera MMy husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2022, taking advantage of the 40% discount on SANPARKS accommodation until the end of May. On check in, the hotel staff were friendly, informative and helpful. We booked a hotel room with a balcony which was a great decision as it provided stunning mountain views of the surrounding national park. The room and bathroom were both large, clean and tastefully decorated. The electric blankets in the freezing weather were a much appreciated surprise! We had breakfast included in the package- which was a buffet on the weekend and most sufficient. On the Monday it was an ala carte menu, of which our ordered omelette which was prepared extremely well. We opted to do short hikes on both mornings in the national park which was most refreshing and picturesque. We spent the remainder of both days going for drives to take in the magnificent surrounds and then went to the nearby quaint Clarens town for some shopping and food. I would definetely stay here again and recommend it to those looking to stay in comfortable accommodation with beautiful views.

We are nestled on the one edge of our valley, affording stunning views over the agricultural lands, planted with different crops and at various stages of flower. Our covered verandas/stoep makes for excellent early morning coffees or afternoon sundowners. Come, rest, see our stars.

A beautiful Gem
Reviewed By Kirsty MIt was our second visit to Claren's and WOW WOW WOW. My Husband and I booked and stayed at Bella Vista 1, a beautiful, immaculate self catering unit. Perfect for 2 or a small family. The fire place was stocked with wood, it was clean, spacious, the garden was lovely and had an amazing view of the mountain, plus it was within walking distance of the town. If you are looking for a romantic weekend away for 2 I would highly recommend Bella Vista. Everything was perfect. Thank you to Lena for her helpful and friendly attitude.

Very neat resort but the Gravel road spoils it !
Reviewed By DragonZordTravellingNestled amongst the mountains and Sterkfontein Dam, this resort has a very unique location. But be warned that there is a good amount of Gravel to get through to this resort. The gravel is driveable but you would need to drive a good 40km/h or less in some places. Once there, there is just a relaxing environment. The rooms are clean, neat and very cosy. With a jetmaster you can relax with the log fire burning away ! The managers makes you feel very welcomed and caters for your every request or at least tries to see what can be done. The pizzas at the restaurant are really really delicious! The reason for the 3 star, is that the gravel makes it extremely unpleasant to get to the resort and by the time you get there, one is absolutely tired!

Great find
Reviewed By Sally HMy friend and I were using Clarens as a stopover on our way to Joburg. The price was amazing and the property was nice with a beautiful garden. The room had two single beds and was small but exactly what we needed. Niki the owner was fabulous and gave us dinner suggestions and things to do around town.

Reviewed By vtoit912178The location is stunning. Really worthwhile if you don't mind the cold in Winter, and sharing a bathroom. A little upgrade is needed. The accommodation is clean and staff is super friendly and very willing to assist and offer other options that are available.

Lovely relaxing weekend
Reviewed By A_Sch0We stayed at Le Franz for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitly stay there again the next time we visit Parys. The accomodation is very clean and neat and the hosts were very friendly and gave us tips on places to visit in town. The decor is modern and tasteful. The delicious home-made rusks in the kitchen was a special touch which we've enjoyed.

Stunning overnight stay on our way back to Pretoria
Reviewed By Johan Christiaa... VMy wife and I was on our way back to Pretoria after a trip to Himeville, Umngazi, Hole in the Wall, Morgan Bay and Hogsback in the Amatola mountains. We drove on gravel roads to Cathcart and planned to sleep over at Aliwal North. Unfortunately the place we wanted to stay at was fully booked. We then decided to look at places in Smithfield, a small village that we normally would simply skip. The first place we contacted was Jasmine Cottages. Donald the owner was so nice and had a room for us . What a surprise when we arrived and our accommodation was actually a family unit with a lounge, dining area, kitchen, two separate bedrooms and two lovely bathrooms. As it was cold the aircon and the electric blankets were more than welcome. Donald also referred us to a nice restaurant for dinner. We will definitely stay over again if we are travelling in that area. Donald is a very interesting person who shared some incredible stories from his past. The accommodation compares well with hotels we stayed at during our trip. Absolutely special.
