Cathedrale Saint Nichan des Armeniens Orthodoxes

Standing on a dominant hill next to the Grand Sérail building, Saint Nichan is the cathedral church of the Armenian Orthodox community of Lebanon. It was built in 1938 in the typical Armenian church architectural-style, but with some Art Déco features. It is surrounded by a small garden with good views of the Lebanese mountains. The cathedral was restored in 2004.

St. Stephan's Cathedral

Reviewed By halcatra - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

It is one of many similar beautiful churches around Lebanon. It is nicely located close to the harbour. If you walk around a little bit, you may catch very nice views on the facade from there. The entrance is free of charge. Worth visiting if you are in Al Batroun.

9. Saydet el Nouriyi Monastery

Saydet el Nouriyi Monastery

Reviewed By Egastent - Flowery Branch, United States

I have never visited before leaving the country 30 years ago. I just took my family on the first visit back since nine years. The place was quiet, serene and the lower small historic church carved in the rock riveting. It is gated with a key given Upon request. This explains why it has not been commercialized. And there lies beauty. Unlike Harisa, one can still feel overwhelmed with a sense of faith without the hustle and bustle of surrounding cafes and picnic tables. Wonder how long it will stay that way ! Go see it !
