The 10 Best Churches & Cathedrals in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

July 4, 2021 Leonarda Pillsbury

Welcoming, tolerant Gran Canaria offers a little something for everyone. Families flock to the water parks and beaches of Puerto Rico. Those seeking peaceful escape scamper to Mogan's quiet fishing villages. Gay visitors crowd the bars, restaurants and beaches of Playa del Ingles. Urban attractions are on offer in Las Palmas. Three highways open up the island for those with a rental car or a bus schedule. Prime sites to visit include Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Arucas and Palmalitos zoo park.

Very nice basilica in the center of town Terror. Good measures to prevent the spread of covid infection. There is enough parking space. In front there are stands with original desserts. I would recommend everyone to come for a walk here.

Iglesia de San Juan Bautista

Reviewed By Davidjellis - Lowestoft, United Kingdom

My wife and I were lucky to have visited the impressive San Juan Bautista church in Arucas in December when the nativity scene was on display. The church is very imposing and stands proud over the town as you approach. Although it looks really old, it's actually quite a modern construction, but done in a gothic style that suggests it is centuries old. We had around 30 minutes inside the church as part of a full day cruise ship excursion and it was lovely to see it from the inside. The huge nativity scene was a sight to behold, really impressive, with some moving parts too. Apart from the nativity scene the grand looking chandelier was also impressive. If you are visiting Gran Canaria this church is well worth checking out.
