Crab Cay-Cayo Cangrejo

Reviewed By MX213 - Mexico City, Mexico

We were the first ones on the island the day we visited. Not even the cashier was there to charge us admission. As the island is on the east side, it gets the morning sun, which illuminates the myriad colors of the reef and lagoon. It was spectacular — especially since we were solo. The admission is for the full day, so if you do a full day boat tour (as we did) we started and ended the trip there - our boat captain dropped us off around 330 for 1.5 hours of sunbathing on the well-maintained dock steps from the lagoon. It gets popular in the afternoons with kids and locals and the food/beverages were sold out and closed by the time we arrived around 330, so plan accordingly (no water to purchase).

Native Horses

San andres isn't just beautiful beaches, it has beautiful forest trails too! And nothing better than on a horse. Enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna as you gallop on a mighty horse past locals and turists alike. See all the seven colors of the sea from a hill top so high you can touch the clouds. This is the real-real San Andrés untouched and preserved right under your nose.

Johnny Cay

Beautiful place to go. Water is a little aggressive so it is important to follow instructions (stay within the swimming area). The water is absolutely beautiful and very warm. There were lockers to keep the belongings. Food was also fabulous (fried red snapper was the best of all 4 fish).

The Peak Forestry Reserve

Our guide Leonardo gave us a wonderful introduction to the medicinal plants along the route to the Peak, and treated us to great stories of island residents past and present (including a couple of German soldiers who set up a homestead that eventually failed in the area of the park). Get to the top and you'll see all the fabulous shades of blue in the tranquil seas of Providence, which has thankfully preserved its rustic ways.

McBean Lagoon National Natural Park

Reviewed By MNDawg - Minneapolis, United States

An absolute must if you go to San Andres! Take the Satena flight over and visit this less visited tropical paradise! Cangrejo Cay is absolutely beautiful!!!????????The snorkeling was fantastic and the views breathtaking!! Go earlier in the day as it tends to get more crowded in the afternoon.
