Perm Opera and Ballet House named after Tchaikovsky

One of the oldest Russian music theatres which remains true to itself in developing opera and ballet art.

Folks, you've got to see this! Not many of you had ever heard of the town of Perm, yet they have an outstanding ballet company here. I have just watched their 'La Bayadere', a very worthy work indeed, rich costumes and stage design. How they manage with their budget I don't know. Having watched a very pale 'Nutcracker' in Opera de Paris where modest tickets come up to 150 euro, I always admire our regional theatres, somehow they find the means to splash out very decent settings. The dancers are beyond all praise, not just the main character, I absolutely loved their corps de ballet. And the girl who danced the title part is blessed with very good acting skills as well. The building is a monument of art as such. Did you know they had rebuilt it leaving the old walls inside? And they have about 3 feet of powdered glass under the orchestra pit for better acoustics. Take a theatre tour if you have time, it's worth it!
