I went on a 206 tour, by myself from Rhode Island , USA. to go to Lourdes and also see St. Bernadette.. I had always wanted to see her.. and I will confess. I got someone to take a picture of me with her.. I was kneeling and looking at her.. I told the nun when I left that I was so happy to be there, and that she was a Sleeping Beauty.. .. there were all these girls that came in with their phones, smartphones.. taking video and that was definitely dis respectful and I feel like Poor Bernadette.. even though her soul is in Heaven, she knows her body is there.,the poor girl suffered very much with her illnesses.. the Bernadette and Passion of Bernadette videos are excellent..I loved Lourdes.., and someday hope to go back maybe.. If only I could learn French?? I know you can volunteer there.. I would like that.. I will never see Bernadette again.. in this world.. that was once in a lifetime and I got my photo.. and I left her a note that said 'St Bernadette,, I have always wanted to meet you in person on Earth, and now I hope to meet you in Heaven...

Domaine de Courcelles

My husband and I had a lovely time at Domaine de Courcelles. Simon was our bilingual (French and) English-speaking guide, and his wife Nathalie took care of the communications and arrangements. They took our requests into account, and Simon tested our abilities to make sure we were capable and safe before having a more adventurous experience. I was most impressed by the way that Simon and Nathalie cared for their animals. Even the dogs were very sweet and friendly, and greeted us at our car doors. My horse constantly nuzzled me and my husband’s horse. If you’re looking for quality, a professional experience, and a place that genuinely cares for the wellbeing of its horses, this is it!

Musee de la Resistance en Morvan

Located within the Morvan Regional Nature Park Centre, the Resistance Museum provides an understanding of the role and importance of the Resistance in this region during the Second World War. Through its impressive collection, the museum brings history to life. A large number of items, archive documents, materials, photographs, weapons, and much more, are presented here in three different rooms. The first room examines the German occupation of the region and its consequences. The second is entirely dedicated to the Resistance, and the Maquis in particular. The final room of the museum focuses on the Liberation of the Morvan and how the Resistance is remembered. The Resistance Museum has recently joined the "Morvan Digital Gallery". Located at midpoint in the permanent exhibition, its portrait, "The Maquis of the Morvan," is an immersive projection space presenting daily life in the Maquis resistance groups. The Museum is run by the association "Morvan Terre de Résistances-ARORM".

This was our second visit to the museum and there was still so much to learn! The museum is geographically small but filled with wonderful records and artifacts of this time. The information on the audioguide is excellent (although none of our audios accepted numbers higher than 14). The photos and memorabilia give poignant and powerful testimony not only to the bravery of the maquis but also the people of the Morvan. Highly recommended and would be excellent for children from about 6 years and up. Great value.
