The 10 Best Budget-friendly Things to do in Ischia, Campania

April 26, 2022 Phylicia Berquist

Serving as the main port town for the island of the same name, the town of Ischia has been inhabited for centuries, famous for its beaches and the healing waters of its spas. The town is divided in two: Ischia Porto is the harbor district and commercial center of the island, filled with brightly lit taverns and bars, and Ischia Ponte, the historic quarter, with its ancient castle and its stone streets seemingly frozen in time.

Where do I begin? Antonello and Erika greeted me as I entered the property with top-level hospitality and warmth. It is obvious that they both live and breathe wellness both internally and externally. I had a full body massage with Antonello which was relaxing and targeted specific tension areas - it was an interesting technique and I believe there was a focus on lymphatic drainage as well. Right after, Erika entered and performed her miracles on my face. When I arrived in Ischia, I was still touting some texture due to clogged pores and blackheads. With Erika's help, my skin is now completely smooth and decongested. She took her time and was gentle, using facial products that smelled and felt lovely. This was accompanied by facial massaging and epilation. Antonello and Erika are truly experts and exude a pride in their crafts that shines through the quality of their performance. Grazie mille.

I didn't expect the ice cream was this nice. They had so many choices I ordered two scope first. Then ended up having another two scope right after. I tried Bacio, pistachio and yogurt. All are very fresh and no artificial colouring. Bacio (with whole hazelnut and biscuits) = AMAZING! Pistachio = AMAZING! Yogurt = AMAZING! This little gem is on the main street en route to the Ischia Ponte castle. So many ice cream shops on the main street near port, but don't waste your quota!

Atelier delle Dolcezze

Chocolate shop and Ice-cream "Atelier delle Dolcezze" The chocolate shop is located in the best known square of the town of Ischia, just a few steps from the famous Bar Calise. The 19th century walls now hosting a place where both eyes and palate find inspiration, were in the past a home to the De Angelis family and artists Luigi, Federico and Giovanni De Angelis, attended by outstanding figures such as P. Pasolini, E. Montale, H. Purrmann, G. Vangi, V. Sgarbi and many others. Today the rooms hosting the ice-cream are partly converted into an art gallery, with the stated purpose of reviving the artistic spirit and talent that once made this house a meeting place for cultural circles. All this is now matched with a different kind of art, the high art of confectionery, with the selling of "Maglio 1875" chocolate and the production of an entirely home-made ice-cream, produced only with the freshest milk and cream according to the ancient Maglio recipe. Caffè Illy. Vegan & Gluten Free.

What a jem! This little shop in the heart of Ischia has the most delicious chocolate (amarena and clementine covered in chocolate !) and top quality ice cream (try the pistachio and 100%chocolate! Also the coffee was special as the owner explained to us that the machine used is the "Ferrari of coffee machines". The shop also sells bread without gluten and has a selection of teas and supercute tea sets! It has some seats overlooking a garden! I totally recommend!

Beautiful beach on the south end of the island. A great place to let your Elana Ferante dreams run wild. I loved collecting the tile fragments that washed up in the shore all day. No idea if this is a standard occurrence here or something special but it was special to me. Highly recommend
