St. Theodor Tiron Convent

Reviewed By R_TheReader - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The convent is within walking distance from the center but it's far from other attractions, so you may be tempted to skip it. Don't. It is a quiet place, with a beautiful church. Quite simple, actually, but it does provide the ambience of a religious location.

Victory Memorial and Eternal Flame

Reviewed By gkw09 - Cambridge, United Kingdom

A wonderful expanse of ground is dedicated here in Chișinău to those who gave their lives during World War II. The Eternal Flame burns symbolically and the large red and pink coloured structure - resembling five 25m high rifles - stands proudly at the centre of this park. It is free admission to the Victory Memorial and very poignant with other monuments and carvings to be seen throughout.

Church of St. Nicholas

Reviewed By TheLush101 - Cardiff, United Kingdom

The church is right in the heart of Chisinau and easy to find in the park. It's fairly plain looking from the outside, but the inside is the usual spectacular (compared to non-orthodox christian churches) display of decoration. Definitely worth a visit and ideal if you want some peace and contemplation.

This church is a solutley beautiful both inside and out. The exterior somewhat looks russian. The interior is clean and decorated beautifully with an exotic touch. There is an area to light your candle (for a small donation) and say a prayer. Really a must see.

Afghan War Memorial To Sons of Motherland - Eternal Memory

Reviewed By X5564XMjimh - Chisinau, Moldova

A memorial to the Soviet soldiers from Moldavia who lost their lives in the Afghanistan War, a war that lasted 9 1/2 years. This war is also referred to as the Soviet Union's Vietnam War or the Silent Bear. The similarities between the Soviet Afghan War and America's Vietnam War are almost identical. Both Soviet Union (9 1/2 years) and the USA (8 years) lost wars that they believed they would win in only a few months; but were severely defeated. Both the Soviet Union and USA retreated and evacuated Afghanistan and Vietnam. Both wars were political. This is considered one of the leading causes of the fall of the Soviet Union.

National Museum of Moldovan Art

Reviewed By Journeyingthrueurope

This was hands down my favorite visit in chisinau. The exterior and interior are both absolutely gorgeous, perfect for artsy photographs. I was also impressed by both the permanent collection and the temporary exhibits of art they had in the musuem. It is a rather large place so there is a lot to see (including a wonderful japanese art exhibit) and we spent a good amount of time there. The staff who work there are also so friendly and kind, which made the experience even better.
