Chios (/ˈkaɪ.ɒs/; Greek: Χίος, translit. Híos; Ancient Greek: Χίος, translit. Khíos) is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the Aegean Sea, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) off the Anatolian coast. The island is separated from Turkey by the Chios Strait. Chios is notable for its exports of mastic gum and its nickname is the Mastic Island. Masticulture is the only business on the Island of Chios specializing in ecotourism. Since we opened our doors in 2007 we have worked hard to provide our customers with authentic experiences on Chios, experiences that explore the island's culture and nature in the most imaginative and creative ways possible.According to others, we've accomplished this goal: Lonely Planet's guide to Greece lists Masticulture among the top 10 green choices for responsible vacations in Greece. And the Chios Chamber of Commerce awarded us with a special prize for innovation and for our efforts to promote sustainable tourism on the island.Apart from our popular mastic harvest tour, we also offer hiking, scuba diving, sailing yacht trips, cycling, cooking classes and other special tours like star gazing! All activities are organized and hosted by us or by our carefully selected partners-people who share our ethical and business high standards as well as the goal that you experience the best Chios has to offer.

This is probably the best and most informative museum I have ever been to in Greece. An absolute recommendation is to pay a visit to this museum as soon as you arrive to Chios. You will get an excellent knowledge of the historic background of the island, the Masticha tradition and will then get more value out of your visit to the different places in the ”Mastochorio” region of the island.

A pretty town whose houses are decorated with carved and painted patterns called graffito.
The village of Pyrgi is a very unique village. The residents decorate their buildings is dark grey and while geometric designs which are quite interesting and time consuming to create. I have never encountered a place like this anywhere else in Greece. Pyrgi is very quaint, with typical Greek village scenery and an opportunity to take some neat pictures. The people are friendly and there are several restaurants where you can eat or get a drink. If you are touring Chios island it is well worth your time to drive to Pyrgi.

A beautiful 11th century Byzantine monastery decorated with mosaics and relics.
I have a summer home in Chios and all though I have travelled back and forth the last summers I never made the time to go visit this beautiful historic Monastery. I had studied history of art in school and College and done tones of reading about the Byzantine empire had visited both Constantinople (Istanbul) and Mesta and left the 3rd most iconic Byzantine site even if it was there close all along. It’s beautiful and unique although not very big and with a very small museum that operates little hours it was magical to see the architecture. Highlight was the amazing marble monastery build in table! And the amazing view of all the island of Chios. Definitely worth a stop on your way to the west side beach’s of the island. We made it into a road trip and got to visit Agia Markella on the same day!

A pretty beach with warm, clear waters, great for swimming.
This beach is without a doubt a little paradise. We were the only people there at 11 am! We could not have asked for something else! Very clean and with a nice path to walk down to the beach! Visit it otherwise you missed a special part of Chios! Not organized, nothing to drink or eat around!

Citrus was founded in 2008 as a multifaceted business venture whose main area of activity is the production of foods based on the renowned citrus fruits of Chios, an island in the eastern Aegean. Inspired by a history of systematic cultivation and commerce that dates back to the 14th century, Citrus aims at dynamically linking the past, present and future of citrus production in the area of Kambos with a model cottage industry. The fruit is used in high-quality products with significant nutritional properties, aimed at Greek and international markets.
A magnificent settlement located in the famous plain of Chios. Perfumes of citrus fruits all over the place, a perfect cafe to relax and enjoy surroundnig by trees and stone, a small agriculture settlement and a summer cinema. Most important a wonderful folklore collection of labels, tools, signs and documents of the commercial activity of the plain during historical periods of the isand.
