The 10 Best Breweries in Kansas City, Missouri (MO)

August 28, 2021 Tynisha Seiler

The home of swing and bebop for some, "The City of Fountains" to others, Kansas City is different things to different people. Music enthusiasts are drawn to the jazz clubs and old haunts of famous musicians such as Charlie Parker and Count Basie. With more fountains than Rome, there is ample opportunity for scenic strolling from fountain to fountain. Stop along the way to discover interesting neighborhoods and browse through eclectic shops. Families are particularly attracted to the city because of its child-friendly events and venues. Science City features hands-on exhibits including a mock television studio where kids can deliver a weather forecast, while the Zoo houses impressive African and Australian exhibits plus an IMAX Theater. The city's museums cover everything from the history of jazz music to a celebration of African American baseball players. Once a trading post for pioneers heading to the Western United States, today Kansas City is a burgeoning metropolis with activities and attractions for visitors of all ages and interests.

Top 5 brewery in KC and #1 when the hydromel is on tap. Cans sell out very fast. Small batch; you can only get it here.

This is a small brewery on Southwest Blvd that offers some great beer and a nice welcoming space. I like the color scheme of the tap room with white walls and light color wooden tables. The stools and chairs are comfortable and modern. They offer a great selection of beers and while I only tried one, my friend has tried several and we've enjoyed them all. I really liked their Czech style lager. This place is worth a visit

The tour guides are awesome, knowledgeable and passionate about the brewery. We had a great time on the tour, just long enough to explain the process but not boring. The tasting room is laid out well for quick service and all of the beer choices are well marked so you can choose what you like best. Perfect for an afternoon!

I was in town for my daughter’s cheer competition at the Hyvee Arena and imagine my suprise when I saw that a brewery was only one block away! Stockyards is located in a nice, quaint area that is as mentioned, a block away from Hyvee Arena. Inside was not open due to pandemic but the patio had a nice amount of seating to enjoy beers on what was a wonderful, sunny day. First the beer. I have to say I was very impressed with the selection and the quality of the beers. Each beer I enjoyed was clean and crisp with great flavors. You can tell that the brewers here are masters of the craft and know what they are doing. Second, the service. The gentlmen pouring beers that day was OUTSTANDING! I am not just saying that because he used to live in St. Paul, GO TWINS. He was an extremly gracious host and I enjoyed chatting with him about his time in MN and the breweries here in the Twin Cities. And lastly, the pace itself. As mentioned, inside was closed except for the restrooms. I did make a visit to the restrooms and I have to say I was very impressed by the place, I hope to come back soon when the inside is open for business. While I was on the patio I couldn’t help but notice the music playing, I was hooked. A quick request to Siri and I found out that the band playing was The Steeldrivers. I have never really listed to that much Bluegrass but the music stuck with me hard. I have listened to nothing since! My visit to Stockyards Brewing left me with two take aways, a happy afternoon enjoying beer on the patio and a new found love of a new to me music genre. I am very glad I visited, the only thing that I am sad about is I did not get a t-shirt (maybe next time.)

We live in KC and this is such a great new spot! We have truly never had a bad brew here. They always have new experimental beers and they are ALL ALWAYS solid. Plus it’s in such great location, you could drink your way through KC on just the corner it’s on. Stop by, have a drink, chat with the owners and try all the beers! Plus they have a great diverse alcohol, cocktails, and wine selection.
