Cheap & cheerful

Location is extremely handy for train to airport, a 5 min walk. Area is slightly dodgy/rundown but seemed safe. 15mins walk to trendy restaurants & shopping. 1st room smelt of smoking and so was instantly given new room which was slightly smaller as bed was against the wall so one person had to crawl in & out, but it was spotlessly clean, comfy bed & hot water. So absolutely no complaints, the ceiling art does give it a “ex knocking shop” kind of vibe but that’s amusing the ceiling art does give it a “ex knocking shop” kind of vibe but that’s amusing

Back again

Been a year since I stayed here last, and it didn't disappoint. Getting there - Was easy to find, ample parking, easy access to foyer and lifts. Check in - Again, easy and staff were polite and friendly. Room - Very spacious, clean and again I had a super comfy bed. Facilities - Downstairs is the restaurant and bar or just order room service. Next door is still a good Coles, and across the road is the Woollies and other small shops, so there is plenty of amenities in walking distance. I will be back.

Being staying for over 10 years BUT NEVER AGAIN

Reviewed By chrisrhea007

Avocado Sunset USED to be our favourite place to stay. But although still nice, it has gone down hill, with the new owners Jilly and Mel - not the luxurious place it was. As we have stayed so many times (10 over the last decade) we thought we would write directly to the owners with some feedback eg Cold both in temperature and atmosphere plus breakfast was not very good and lots of other small comments. But to our surprise, basically they called us liars, as they must have been offended. So needless to stay we will not be recommending it to anyone or staying again.

Staying near Brisbane Airport

Reviewed By 914ssb

I had to move out from the original hotel I stayed due to fully-booked. Since my flight is at 9:00 am, so I thought staying close to the airport would be good since I would not need to wake up early. Searched in Google Map for hotels near the airport and decided to stay at Prince of Wales Hotel mainly because it was reasonably priced with many cafes/eateries nearby. Arrived at the hotel around 6:30pm tired and hungry, but was told that the room booked had already been taken up by mistake. The lady in-charged was quick to offer an upgrade (no more studio room) with free dinner because the room needed time to be cleaned/tidied up. We ended up in a 2-room suites and the dinner was great! But we had to change room the next day after they had vacated the original studio room that I booked. For all the trouble the hotel gave me a 5% refund. Though I experienced some inconveniences, I applaud the way they handled the situation, and I actually felt that they respected their hotel guests. The studio room is quite small with attached toilet & bathroom. Unlike the 2-room suites facing the main road was quite noisy, this room at the back was quieter. The fixtures were aged. All the hotel rooms are on 1st floor with no lift. We were given 2 keys, one for the room and one for the entrance downstairs. We stayed 2 nights and left around 6:00am, just dropped the keys at the box next to the entrance. We pre-ordered Uber and it got here right on time and it took about 10min to get to the airport. Overall I feel that it is a good choice for overnight stay especially for early flight if you don't mind carrying your luggage up/down the stairs and having small size room (Studio).

Arrived in thre dark in the rain, so was a tad hard to find. Delightful surroundings, and birdsong in the morning. Noisy, nosey and frequently smoking neighbors prevented us from sitting outside, but we slept like logs and went exploring in the morning. Loved the little personal touches like chocs on the towels & all the info supplied. There was also bats in the garden.

Is it really wagyu beef that's served?

Reviewed By Wander68392238156

We read the online reviews about the place and the quality of food and wine served at the restaurant and went with a positive vibe anticipating a fantastic lunch. Hence, each of us ordered a 2 course lunch with the wagyu steak for main... Lo and behold, not sure if that's really wagyu beef the restaurant had served. Minimal marbling and honestly tasted like a piece of normal steak which I usually cook at home. Wagyu beef is not uncommon for us and what was served, if its really wagyu in its true definition, did not make the cut at all.
