The 10 Best Architectural Buildings in Centro, Community of Madrid

November 4, 2021 Randal Brittian

So many of Madrid’s buildings look like castles, you’ll think you’ve stumbled into a fairytale. Even City Hall is astounding, with its white pinnacles and neo-Gothic features. A self-guided architecture tour can begin by the great bear statue in the central Puerta del Sol. Wander by the fanciful Royal Palace before absorbing the natural beauty of Retiro Park, then visit one of the city’s many museums. You could happily cap off each day by nibbling on forkfuls of paella while sipping Spanish rioja.

Royal Palace of Madrid

Luxurious, over-the-top rococo palace with over 2,000 opulently gilded rooms.

The excellent audio guide was sufficient for exploring the palace without a guided tour The Palace was really impressive, the view from the Scenic viewpoint was breathtaking and the works of art inside were very antique and impressive; do make sure you include a visit to the armoury. Overall, the sheer splendour of the palace was breathtaking, every one of the rooms exquisite, and particularly the magnificent Throne Room. Well worth a visit

Casino de Madrid

Reviewed By TheTrvlGuy - New York City, United States

I find hard it is to describe the gorgeous architectural grandeur inside this private club, as I was guided through room after room each more stunning than the last... I thought to myself... so this is how the one percent lives. My hotels concierge was able to secure a private guided tour for me, so happy he did... the Casino de Madrid was designed and constructed I believe around 1900/1902 [I'm sure TA knows] as a private members only club and nearly one hundred and twenty years later, the splendor and beauty has been so meticulously cared for, it's as if no time has past. You know instantly upon arriving, seeing the grand staircase you've entered another realm [sorta speak] or a time-period long forgotten. I didn't ask my fabulous female guide about any other types of tours that where offered, but again, I'm certain TA has all that kind of information. However, I do know that this private tour was absolutely perfect for the way I travel and the places I explore... I highly recommend, if given an opportunity to tour the Casino de Madrid and glimpse at how the one percent lived a hundred and twenty-ish years ago... do it. Enjoy every adventure ahead of you and all the diversity our planet offers
