The 10 Best Archaeology Tours in Island of Capri, Campania

November 3, 2021 Franklyn Hardiman

The crags and grottoes of Capri have been dazzling visitors since the Ancient Greeks first settled the island. It’s easy to understand why artists and writers have been immortalizing Capri’s beauty and history for centuries. Climb aboard a wooden boat to tour the Grotto Azzurra, a cave filled with spectacularly blue water. Savor some gelato while you stroll around the harbors of Marina Piccola or Marina Grande, an ancient Roman fishing port.

Capri can be easily reached by hydrofoil from Naples or Sorrento. It is one of the pearls of the Mediterranean Sea that every year is reached by the yachts of the most famous VIPs, the characteristic narrow streets, famous in the world for exclusive shopping, become the catwalk of important personalities. Sorrento reaching it from the sea has the exact perception (of why Sorrento) of why it was a city of strategic importance. Going along it in its alleys you have the conviction of staying in one of the most romantic and evocative places you can know. Visiting the excavations of Pompeii gives us the exact yardstick for comparing the beauty of the tourist sites, since the times of the Greeks, with the simplicity of everyday life in a city like Pompeii, even if it is possible to imagine also the lust of the Roman patricians admiring frescoes and mosaics that were only executed in villas of a certain prestige.

Inclusions: Private guide, minivan and driver Naples / Pier / Sorrento / Pompeii / Naples, parkings, highway tolls

Exclusions: Hydrofoil tickets, entry tickets where applicable, restaurants, transportation in Capri, gratuities
