The 10 Best Archaeology Tours in Cyclades, South Aegean

November 1, 2021 Sheron Bogner

The Cyclades is a group of Greek islands with beautiful, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains and lush valleys. Glamorous Santorini and Mykonos attract the jetset, while lesser-known isles, such as Milos and Naxos, are the perfect places for beach lovers. Ruins, including the 11th-century Dorian settlement and volcanic ash-preserved Ancient Akrotiri in Santorini, amaze those with a bent for ancient history. Sifnos' cuisine wins it admirers. Hydrofoils, ferries and catamarans connect the islands.

One word: FANTASTIC!!! Georgia was absolutely amazing! She knew so much about everything on Santorini including the Akrotiri archealogical site. She picked us up from our hotel in her car, took us for a tour around the south part of Santorini, including the light house, explanations about the landmarks, crops and buildings and then took us through an in-depth review of the Akrotiri Archealogical Site. We were so enthralled all through the tour and kept asking questions yet Georgian kept answering with in depth knowledge. Even our 13 year old was interracting and asking questions!! Would highly recommend the private tour. It's worth every cent!

Victor was very friendly and knowledgeable about Santorini. He was open to our itinerary that we put together plus suggested other sites to see. Fantastic from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better company to go with. Especially during May 2021 and COVID-19 although we expected the boat to be clean, we have never seen such a sparkling boat. The food was amazing and we had the best time ever! Thank you to everyone who contributed to our enjoyment. We most definitely will be back and look forward to booking with you again.

My daughter and I went on this tour with only four other people. The tour itself is well planned out for lots of sightseeing. I would have given this tour a much higher rating if we would have had a different guide. We had hoped it would be someone of Greek descent as everyone on the island were so friendly and kind. We had a girl from Belarus who was rude to all of us the entire day. She ordered us around as if we were in the military. Other than her required information to us, there was zero interaction. It was. . . “Hurry up!” “Go!l “Do NOT be late!” We overheard her tell people that it was her last day and she could not wait to be done with us. Never in all the small group tours I have taken, have I been treated so poorly. She RUINED the trip for us. Definitely not worth the 50 euros for such treatment.

I used Notos travel for the transport from Santorini Airport to Perissa. Actually I booked with Holiday taxi but the shuttle was arranged by this local travel agency. The service was reliable and hassle free. As the transfer from JTR airport by bus is nit convenient due to bad bus timing. The driver helpful and friendly. The shuttle was bought just for me as a single person.
