The food is not hot, not even warm. All other taco cabanas you walk in and SEE the meat sizzling on the grill as itâs cooked. Thereâs no gril here. No sizzle either. Just some teens in the back on their cell phones. My tacos had 3 small cubes of meat about the size of a sugar cube and when I rolled the corn tortilla itâs cracked! Dry and cold. The rice was not fully cooked. Itâs a shame because I really wanted a taco cabana in our area but I donât believe the food is made fresh here.

I honestly don't get it. But people were going to this place almost 30 years ago, now their kids are taking their kids to it. Not the best tex-mex around, the enchiladas are almost unrecognizable. Best thing in here is the carne guisada and the (believe it or not) chicken fried steak which would be top class if not for the fake cream gravy straight out of a box or can.

We all loved the freshly made tableside guacamole...stuffed avocado was a little to heavily coated for friend..taco salad was humungous and in a giant taco shell not a bowl..fajitas were great but would have liked more veggies..rice and borracho beans wonderful..service good ..large clean dining area..updated clean restroom..good mixed drinks..Thank you for your recent visit to El Toro. It gets worse every time. Every time I sit at the bar the bar tenders are doing everything thing else but bar tending. Excuses like we have to wait tables make to go orders. Will never return ever again. Never can get waited on.

Generally there is a wait in the drive thru. Be prepared. I've tried to avoid the line and go inside and the wait wasn't any better. I did recently get a discount because the wait was so long and I was stuck in the drive thru.

As with all TexMex food, how "good" it is depends on your experiences and what you're expecting. For example, LaCasona would be 5 stars in say, New Hampshire, where they seriously don't know what they're doing, lol. But here in south Texas, where you can get reliable Tex Mex just about anywhere, it's dependable fare executed well. I appreciate that the tacos seem to be made with real ground beef, beans are tasty and well flavored, street tacos taste fresh and are the corn tortillas are really good, margaritas are solid and the stuffed jalapeno never disappoint. My experiences with staff have always been positive, and I think they err on the side of being a bit too intrusive, lest you sit too long (but I'm fine with explaining I want to talk and relax). Love LaCasona and I'm glad they're here in LJ.

I canât even express how awful the food was, how bizarre the service was and how in the world 2 margaritas and queso cost $27. Giving this place 1 star is overrated.
