Reviews on Gastropub food in El Paso, Texas, United States. For an alternative Texas experience, consider El Paso. Located far from the bright lights of Dallas or San Antonio, in the state's western corner along the sparkling shores of the Rio Grande, El Paso boasts a different feel than its eastern counterparts. A true melting pot of American and Mexican culture, the combination is noticeable everywhere. Visit the El Paso Museum of Art and see American works from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as Mexican colonial art and retablos from the 1700s and 1800s. Restaurants serve authentic Mexican cuisine, Texas barbecue or a little of both. While this fusion of cultures draws some, the rock climbers who descend on El Paso have only one thing in mind: scaling the massive boulders of Hueco Tanks State Park. Those who prefer the ground can wander through the park's interpretive center and see ancient Indian pictographs. Other popular El Paso pastimes include golf, mountain biking and our personal favorite, stargazing.

Independent & Family-Owned Pub featuring 60+ taps of independent beer, vast spirits selection, cocktails, cigars, and a scratch kitchen. Enjoy out on our beer garden.
During our week-long stay in El Paso, we visited the Hoppy Monk not once, but twice. Great tap beer list and we found the food delicious, too. The cauliflower "wings" were a favorite as were the veggie tacos. Just a hands-down great place to chill and enjoy a beer and elevated food!

We were looking for a dinner spot in El Paso that allowed dogs. The first search I did had Ripe at the top. I confess to ignoring the recommendation solely based on my negative reaction to the name of the restaurant. But all the websites kept putting Ripe at the top. So I put my initial reaction aside and set the GPS for the west side of El Paso. The location is about five minutes off the interstate in a strip mall setting with a patio at the front facing the parking lot. The service was attentive and friendly. We had a spinach dip, that was pretty good, as an appetizer. My wife had a beet salad with seared tuna on top. I had a pear salad with salmon. Both dishes were fresh and yummy. The fish on both were near sushi-grade cuts. The wine list was not big, but did provide a variety of choices. I wish they did not allow smoking on the patio, but I understand why they would. In all it was a good experience. Can you change the name, though? âRipeâ food is not a good image.

My wife and I popped in for drinks and dinner one evening (almost everywhere else in the downtown area was closed by 8pm!) We enjoyed a couple of craft beers and a charcuterie plate at the bar. We appreciated the bar staff's insights on the beer - they know their stuff. This is a very casual and laid-back establishment. No pretense, no fuss. Enjoy.

The food was okay, just really expensive. It seems to cater to a more hipster crowd by putting upscale twists on common dishes. It was good quality, but nothing spectacular. The service was good, but the wait staff was all business, not overly friendly. Four of us for breakfast cost over $75 not counting the tip.
