Kohnen’s German bakery has the best pastries in the nearby area. My wife grew up in Germany and loves this place! Tehachapi is usually one of our stops when traveling to the eastern sierras. As we were heading back, we had a cravings for a good coffee break. We searched the internet for a good spot to stop and rather than choosing a chain, we opted for this local spot. A little off the beaten path but certainly worth finding. The place was really charming. The employees were very friendly and the coffee drinks were superb. It was bustling with mostly locals when we were there which is always a good sign. We are certainly happy we made the decision to stop in and will become our go to place when next in the area.

My wife and I stopped for the night and needed a place to eat. We saw the Red House BBQ. Don't let looks deceive you. They are very friendly and helpful. I ordered Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork ,beans and coleslaw. I put the spicy sauce on and was in seventh heaven. My wife go the pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, and a tossed salad with mild sauce. The customers in there said, to hold on, we were in for a treat. They were right. The food was sooooo good, and the service was excellent. If ever in the area, you gotta try it. Thanks

Could've done with a "hello" as we walked in rather than waiting like a lemon until somebody acknowledged us but thereafter the service was great, with servers helping each other out without being asked.
We had two types of steak and both were great - cooked and seasoned perfectly. Side vegetables for me were fine; the potato au gratin could have been improved with better cheese (flavourless yellow American cheese).
Lots of ice cold beer and other drinks. 2 for 2 and if I'm in the area there'll be a 3rd trip at least.

Took my BFF to taste the most an awesome omelette "Pulled Pork Chili Verde". My hubby stumble on it. We had had one @ a Triple D place "Coffee Cup" in Bolder City, NV & now we can have more often since closer to us. People are super friendly, we go there every chance we get.

Dinner was good, nice clean restaurant.
We had the Turkey Noodle Soup in a mug with Cornbread. The soup was a bit salty, although I knew that from the sample the waitress gave us. The cornbread was generous not crumbly at all and was served with butter and honey.
We really enjoyed the books on the table. We sat a bit longer at the table and shared bits from the books! "The Joy of Being Broke" by Ben Goode and "Geezerhood--What to Expect from Life now that you're as Ild as Dirt" also by Ben Goode.

Having traveled in the Orient and particularly Southeast Asia and Thailand, we can say this is some of the best tasting, most authentic Thai food around this small town and local area. Dishes are served both family style and individual dishes and range from very mild (not traditional Thai but lower in Thai chilies / spices for American tastes) to quiet spicy. Had much spicier in Thailand itself but their dishes have some pretty good heat to them if you like it that way. Service is prompt and very good with the cooks being from the northern part of Thailand from the Chang Mai area. Prices are most reasonable and their Thai tea is very good with free refills. Ambiance is simple diner type tables and chairs but plenty of room. Eaten there many times and never been disappointed. Some of the wait staff have a little problem with English comprehension but they try and also provide good, attentive service in any case.

the decor waspunk chic...my wife had the philafornia burger with mixed (regular and sweet potatoe fries) I had the brat...it came with very good saurkraut...spicy mustard and onion rings ($1.00 extra but worth it) the watiress was friendly professional and did a great job...It was a bit pricey for two but I felt totally worth it...we will come back for desert next time...they looked yummy
