The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

Renowned as the birthplace of Motown and techno, the city boasts one of the largest theater districts in America — as well as four pro sports teams, set just blocks apart. Dearborn, Michigan, is home to the Ford Motor Company, a legacy that has left its mark on the city. Here it is possible to take a tour of the famous Rouge Factory, a manufacturing plant so large that it once had its own fire and police departments. Dearborn is also home to The Henry Ford Museum, a massive complex that includes Greenfield Village, featuring 83 authentic historic buildings. The halls of the museum are packed with famous vehicles, including JFK's limo and the Oscar Weinermobile.
Grosse Pointe Park is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 11,555 at the 2010 census. Bordering on Detroit with frontage on southern Lake Saint Clair, it is the westernmost of the noted Grosse Pointe suburbs, with the oldest overall housing stock of the five cities. Grosse Pointe Park is 6 miles (9.7 km) east of downtown Detroit and thus is home to many who commute to the city on a daily basis. The area is often referred to simply as 'GPP' or "The Park".
