Decided to celebrate our birthday at Santabbondio. the place is just amazing and really exceptional. Both inside and outside the atmosphere is just sublime. The food is very creative, well presented and of great taste. The waiter was also fantastic, very knowledgeable and of great help with his advice. A memorable place to go and eat. First, this restaurant is needlessly pretentious. Second, the two other guests at my table ordered the tasting menu. I did not like all the options on the tasting menu, so I told the waiter, that I would order the same amount of courses and if he could please pair wine as well. He agreed. That is not what happened. While I was the only female at the table, I was given one glass of wine and treated with an air of snotty contempt. The food was just ho hum. It was not creative. It was mathematical in its presentation. Safe but what you can get at a multitude of other restaurants. I will say that the view is wonderful. But for almost $700 for 3 people, save your money. It is totally not worth it. I had very good expirience with this establishment. Absolutely amaizing dinner with respect to food, its serving, service and overall atmosphere. Deliciouis food with impeccable souses, and fresh ingridiends. Portions were not too big not too small, just right. Good wine list and the wine itself was great. I would reccomend any one for an upscale dinner with not exessive spending. Well done!Dear friend,thank you very much for your review. We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation by our hotel concierge. The interior is decorated in a nautical style with salt water fish tanks, fresh lobster and oyster tanks. This is your first hint that their specialty is fresh fish. We were seated upstairs in the initially quieter part of the restaurant. The place was really busy on a Saturday night and the volume increased with the quests, including several families with very small children. The menu has many options including shellfish, local fish that changes daily and specialties. Our meal began with aperitifs along with a delicious amuse bouche of smoked salmon on a croissant. A variety of breads filled the time during the short wait for our meal. We started with a shared dish of the salt cod ravioli, which was separated on two plates and presented to each of us. Our waiter recommended the special turbot and we LOVED it! It is rare to find this fish in the states and when it is prepared as well as Al Faroâs does, what a treat! Paired with a lovely Sauvignon blanc (another recommendation of our server) the fish was delightful. Not only was meal perfect but the service was amazing - personal and attentive!Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert but they all sounded tempting! We are so glad we visited this restaurant in Lugano we only wish we had gone there both nights of our stay!

Interior is contemporary: Hi tech lifts, glass, transparent plastic chairs and white walls.Vitello tonnato was tasty and tender but the steak was a little bit overdone (surely not medium).I think it's a good place to have a lunch with bossiness part not a family dinner.Dear Serge G,thanks a lot for your beautiful review.We hope to see you soon in our Restaurant!

Somewhat out of the way, however worth the effort. Recent lunch was excellent. Bruschetta with tomato and basil and stuffed zucchini flowers were spectacular. Risotto ai funghi was classic and one of the best I have had. Try the Turriga red wine from Sardinia-also excellent.The restaurant overlooks Lake Lugano and has a small number of outside tables. Inside the tables are typical family style. Excellent parking, which is rare in this area. Overall a wonderful experience.

My family and I went for Easter to cantinetta caprese as i suggested we could enjoy some tasty food all together.We have been several times before and it was always very good.The place has a big room inside and an outdoor terrace which is great during the summer.We ordered some mussels as appetizer (they were plump and sauce lovely) and octopus with potatoes (good), then as mains we took lamb (as it was on the daily menu, good but a bit dry, i expected more), some pasta (amazing but slightly too much al dente) and a fish (very good). We took some dessers which were good but did not blow me away this time except for the caprese which is always tasty and soft.Overall a wonderful meal even though for the price we paid (very high) I would have expected more especially from the lamb.Service was friendly and the atmosphere nice too.

This is the most intimate and romantic restaurant I've been to in a long time. The menu is totally in Italian and the waiters have the most rudimentary command of English. Here though, the food does the talking.Somehow, the chef seems to have been taken by foie gras. An entire page of the menu is dedicated to duckâs liver dishes and it features on quite a few of the main courses. Foie gras is of course utterly sublime and the fillet steak topped with pan fried foie gras was out of this world.My wife and I were totally blown away.
